The building was up to code, actually the company had been recognized, repeatedly by the Kyoto fire department for being within code and having conducted multiple drills.

The thing is, the code was not meant for a fire set by gasoline and a mad man. My expectation is that what will be found is that they were overcome by smoke and once one person fell... that blocked the room exit and made it all the worse.

That’s very saddening. I truly cannot recreate the feelings of a family member whose loved one survived the initial attack and rejoiced but died later on. May they all get peace of mind.
