True. When it gets this bad, when corruption reaches critical mass, and outside force has to go in an purge the corrupt, every single one the can find.
If you have to toss half of local politicians in the worst federal prison so be it.

Its true for any system or community.

No matter if a political party, a internet forum or even a gaming clan. Once a critical mass has been reached it traditions, habit and mores becomes self-reproductive. It attracts more people of the same kind and forms them accordingly, as they adopt the habits they are learning from the others and follow their examples. Be they good or bad ones. Individuals who attempt to work against it usually find themself swimming against the tide. Naturally.

Once its rotten, it's game, as the inherent social inertia is hard to break. Corruption usually appears if people stop playing by the rules. Either because they say "fuck it" or are encouraged by bad example, impunity, loss of legitimacy etc. etc.

Very true, and then internal reform is impossible. A corrupt state will of course not fight its own corruption. Which is why the Feds have to do this.

Shit like this repeats itself at smaller levels, like municipalities with their mayors. And don’t get me started on gov’t agency directors. That’s yet another clusterfuck.

Like father, like son. History has periodically shown this to be the case, and unfortunately, when the father is an already messed up liar and pathological kleptocrat, his son will very quickly learn how to steal too.

Does not work. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss. An elite will always take charge.
And ironically the people already do have power. They elected this guy in the first place.

If a democratic government is corrupt, it is ultimately the fault of the people.

We pay them off, and they are out of hair. It would also be contingent on them relinquishing American citizenship.

The Fed already did. There’s an ongoing FBI investigation and there have already been arrests at government level, with more to come. This, however, is independent from the reasons behind wanting the governor to resign. Although there may be links to. May.

At the service level, not politically, I would assume.

The Fed already did. There’s an ongoing FBI investigation and there have already been arrests at government level, with more to come. This, however, is independent from the reasons behind wanting the governor to resign. Although there may be links to. May.

Every single time, the federal government will arrest protesters and quell "threats" to absolute rule. Having a fair election and representing the people often isn't in their interests. It is political whenever mass protests happen and it is political when the government harshly suppresses said protests. The investigation is enough to prove there is some sort of credible case for organization and planning, even at a low level, and that is enough.

If it doesn't go to the federal plan, it is automatically terrorism and such. Rather than addressing the cause, the heavy handed state enforcers simply destroy. There has been no attempt to resolve issues. The farther this gets, the greater a chance that consideration of problems be taken.

Beatings and gassings by the well armed keepers of order put this down without a look into the point protesters argue. The management of Puerto Rico is at best awful.

Note the government often steals, destroys, and injures when violence breaks out. Gratuitous damage is part of their operation. We saw it when hurricanes ravaged the coast and when anger arises from poor policy.

Poor and mistreated government employees, at the core, are the workers and not the tyrants. The employees did not hurt themselves by causing a shutdown and they did not bring a number of ordeals that bureaucrats and corrupt officials are solely responsible for.

The system is quite evidently broken when the government hates itself.

The Federal government has to intervene. Not to stop protests but to arrest the corrupt local government officials. The people are right to be angry but at the same time keep re-electing the same people. So people power is no going to work here.

They get rid of him only to elect someone else who is the exact same thing,

Once corruption reaches a certain critical mass, internal reform is essentially impossible.

I say he doesn't resign.

El pueblo de Puerto Rico needs to wake up.

The government and the political parties representing them do not represent them at all.

They all need to go. The WHOLE GOVERNMENT needs to go.

Same thing. Also East Samoa and Virgin Islands.

My suggestion is to give all the poor Pacific areas to Japan or South Korea as long as America retains the military facilities. They don't have too many SJWs and will be able to solve the problems.
