Puerto Rican governor Ricardo Rosello has been dealing with tension on the hoefront this week in Puerto Rico after secretly leaked texts revealed the governor's involvement in manipulation of public narratives on relief efforts during hurricane Maria (which were severely lacking), attempts to discredit negative coverage, homophobic and misogynist slurs against opponents and support for violence against his rivals including the mayor of San Juan. Angry demonstrators took to the streets last night in the capital to voice their outrage and while the protest started out peaceful, it descended into chaos later in the night with protesters throwing rocks and bottles and erecting burning barricades while police fired tear gas and pepper spray to disperse demonstrators. Despite the leaks and widespread calls for governor Rosello to resign, Rosello has refused to step down and seeks to run for re-election next year, his ambivalence to the demonstrators only further fueling the fire.

So what are your opinions on the developing unrest and controversy in Puerto Rico? Should Rosello resign from his post and let someone else take his place? Is corruption a major problem on the island? How can we fix the government of the territory so it better serves the people it's supposed to represent?

I think progressivism is to blame, as it leads to chaos. Somebody (preferably a conservative) should take his place, and fix the issue. Then again, I wish that Hurricane Maria fixed the problem of Puerto Rico progressivism by sending a message to the Puerto Rico citizens: change your ways and stop this SJW behavior or else the great moderators in the sky will use the next Hurricane to ban you.

The Fed already did. There’s an ongoing FBI investigation and there have already been arrests at government level, with more to come. This, however, is independent from the reasons behind wanting the governor to resign. Although there may be links to. May.

Every single time, the federal government will arrest protesters and quell "threats" to absolute rule. Having a fair election and representing the people often isn't in their interests. It is political whenever mass protests happen and it is political when the government harshly suppresses said protests. The investigation is enough to prove there is some sort of credible case for organization and planning, even at a low level, and that is enough.

If it doesn't go to the federal plan, it is automatically terrorism and such. Rather than addressing the cause, the heavy handed state enforcers simply destroy. There has been no attempt to resolve issues. The farther this gets, the greater a chance that consideration of problems be taken.

Beatings and gassings by the well armed keepers of order put this down without a look into the point protesters argue. The management of Puerto Rico is at best awful.

Note the government often steals, destroys, and injures when violence breaks out. Gratuitous damage is part of their operation. We saw it when hurricanes ravaged the coast and when anger arises from poor policy.

Poor and mistreated government employees, at the core, are the workers and not the tyrants. The employees did not hurt themselves by causing a shutdown and they did not bring a number of ordeals that bureaucrats and corrupt officials are solely responsible for.

The system is quite evidently broken when the government hates itself.

Let me clarify here, because I’m not sure you understood my post: the FBI arrests were of high level people, not of your average government employees. And the next batch of arrests are of more high level people.

Linear structures of control are absolutely infeasible in a highly natural environment. The weaponization of storms cannot break the appeal to the storm. Prayer is a gust of optimism that nobody, not HAARP, not corrupt UN officials, not even The Stormwind herself can break. The Storm has no friends, but if you can make it look like the storm is on your side, you have a powerful ally. That is why a Weather Wizard being in office is so terrifying, and must be demonstrated against, and must be removed, but will the masses go so far as to liberate power over the stormwind? Unfortunately, I doubt they could even if they knew it was important.

Heh, hoefront. :p

I dont understand the riots etc. yeah he was being a bit of bro but these were private group chats with his coworkers.

Anyway the governor should call out the national guard and play El toque a degüello on the bugle, to let the people know they need to get back in line.
