Empires / dictatorships are often even worse than republics so I don't want to go down that route.

Theocracies / ideological states basically replace the often biological tribe with an ideological community that can be ethnically and racially inclusive. However these states can be very unpredictable ideologically.

The Democratic Party is PROBABLY going to nominate another boring centrist type with zero "political sex appeal", and if they do, they will DEFINITELY lose.
