Early on in my nation's history I came across a nation called The Kualti Computing Unit, which in their sig claimed to be "heavily inspired" by mine, and it was clear that they were. That was a pretty big ego boost, back when my lore was still in very early development. I saw them a few times on Forum 7 and once or twice in more casual RP forums. I telegrammed them once and got no response. Now they've CTEd and I regret that I'll probably never know which player liked my nation enough to create a puppet based on mine.

This happened yet again more recently, when a nation that was part of the Pacific TGed me with a puppet, Valkyri Wraiths is what I believe it was called, and asked for permission to create a vassal state for TCM. I agreed, and the result was Droria 521D. That nation has also since CTEd, as has the one they TGed me with, and when I asked in a telegram if they had a main nation or WA nation they didn't respond. So once again I have no idea who they were, and I kind of wish I had the chance to find out.

This thread is gravedig proof. But back in the day where the mods actually cared about gravedigging, NSG had a fortnight's grace... and unless I'm much mistaken, you were inside that.

I vaguely remember Sovaal's name after reading it a second time; looking at things it seems were exchanged a few posts, but they didn't stick in the head (probably because I'm too busy remembering people from my early years here).

It has been months since I have been here, but there are some interesting characters I remember.

1000 Cats:The zoophile that advocated legalising bestiality and bragged about raping his cat. Declared DoS for obvious reasons.

Banana Kid: The crazy middle schooler that spent summer break trolling the mods. He was certainly a nice change from the typical neo-Nazi and porn spammers that NS sees most summers. I hope he is okay.

Dumb Ideologies: It has been interesting watching her grow. She started off as an unreasonable radical left-winger that later grew increasing disillusioned the radical left and now seems to be an enlightened moderate. I always loved her sense of humour.

El-Amin: The radical Islamist that supported sharia law and spoke favourably of terrorist organizations. It took the mods a while to DoS him, but I was happy when they did.

Franklin Delano Bluth: This guy was definitely something. He was an ultra-far left poster that held some pretty bizarre and extreme views. He was also pretty offensive at times which led to him being declared DoS.

Gauthier: That guy really knew how to make an ass of himself and it got him deated.

Hippostania: The kid from Finland whose dream was to immigrate to America and vote Republican. He was pretty controversial and something of an oxymoron. He was a "proud conservative", but he was also a brony, supported LGBT rights, and was in favor of gun control. I wonder what happened to him.

Karinzistan: The guy that wanted a revolution against the "fascist mods" and ultimately made a clown out of himself.

Nervun: He was one really cool mod.

Parkus Empire: He was always a bit cringy, but he was also pretty chill and nice at first. Then he went off the deep end and just became a seasoned troll.

United Soviet Socialist Republics: Yet, another oxymoron. He was a fascist and a fundamentalist Christian while also a homosexual. He also thought highly of a Soviet Union, despite being a fascist.

With regard to existing nations, here are some more memorable ones in terms of lore, mostly from Forum 7:

Cantelo - most convincing MT nation I know of. It's an odd mix of a different European cultures which are synthesized admirably.
Nu Alaska - A fantasy nation that is great because it isn't about ghosts and vampires, it's about a modern world which has been drastically altered by the knowledge of said beings' existence, which is really fascinating to me.
Las Palmeras - As above, this nation isn't about how cute nekomimi are - it's about how they would develop culturally and politically if they existed, and how the world would be affected by their existence.

Er, no.

1000 Cats was DoS'd for not shutting up. That's it. [Violet] through a hissy fit, the mods decided to keep Deating nations instead of using bans and suddenly it was DoS time. Of course, if 1000 Cats had just shut up instead of continually complaining/whining about (iirc) the deletion of the Zoophilia Region, they'd probably still be here today. Or, perhaps, merely CTE'd.

There are some mods today whose method of handling incidents like this are inclined to inflame situations rather than cool them down. Imagine waiting hours to say "calm down". I mean, telling people to calm down is almost always a mistake but to do so after everyone else has stopped talking is just fucking insane. As I remember the problem with 1000 Cats was mostly just the wrong, but understandably used, moderation tool (deletion versus forumban) rather than agitating the situation.

The only bit you got right was the initial deletion... which was the cat statement, not the region. But the reason why there was a deletion was very much "you were told not to do this, you are doing this, therefore DEAT".

And if you were there, who are you? Notice the second to last post in that thread? See what account made it? That's being there.

I had stumbled upon Hindia Belanda sometime in early 2019, undoubtedly the most realistic and believable alternate-history nation set in MT I have ever come across. They had legitimately made me think twice about creating this nation because I felt like this town ain't big enough for two alternate history Indonesias. Their factbooks were all insanely detailed and stuff like news articles were all well-written and thought out. I think they're the one most memorable NSer I could think of right now.

Sorry if this is grave digging, who was that one guy who I think is DOS now that always used to make drive-by posts and actually acted like the whole "SJW" stereotype? I think it was an intentional satire or a troll, but I forgot their name… IIRC they used to be really active in the UK Politics thread and Gun Control thread
