Ok, perhaps I was a little overzealous earlier, since most of the time it’s the courts holding the government to the laws already passed by Parliament. But this is one of those situations that the London high court thought was political, or too political for them to interfere, since it seems like the courts writing the laws rather then interpreting them.

And we're back to a Scottish court disagreeing. If it is true that the government lied to the sovereign then we're really in tricky waters. And it really seems like that might be the case.

I am confused by this, the sovereign provides a prorogue of Parliament at the request of the government for any reason because the sovereigns power to grant a prorogue has become a formality under current UK constitutional law much like royal assent. The Scottish court is saying the government lied and tricked the sovereign into granting a prorogue that the Sovereign is duty bound grant regardless of the reason, therefore the proroguement is unconstitutional ?

That is some a degree of formalism that is amazing.

It also appears the Scottish court is inviting a Constitutional crisis to solve an issue that has already been resolved by Parliament passing a law requiring the PM to request an extension of the EU.

The evidence is cherrypicking.

Pointing out that the big names in the leave side stand to personally profit from No Deal is cherrypicking?

If the Yellowhammer papers are even close to correct, about the impact on the flow of goods across the channel, the UK car industry is going to be severely harmed if the Brexit Secretary is right when he says “the car industry’s ‘just in time’ supply chains rely on fluid cross-Channel trade routes. More than 1,100 trucks filled with car parts cross seamlessly from the EU into the UK each day.”

I also worry about a lack of flu vaccine supplies coinciding with a bad flu season, leaving NHS staff and other emergency workers unprotected at the worst possible time.

But we'll have blue passports and special commemorative coins so it'll all be OK!

But one thing I find interesting, the PM has requested from the Queen to prorogue parliament. Couldn't parliament have reversed the decision(effectively, telling Boris to go back to the queen to advise otherwise) in the few days it had left?

Could they source enough blackjack tables and prostitutes in this economy?

We did pretty well without a flu jab, the flu vaccine isn't really necessary anyway. It's just doctors scaremongering as usual.

I'm sure the gig economy will expand to cope with demand.

Yes, they could have. They can also remove Boris at will.

Parliament is completely schizophrenic.

Young, elderly, and ill people are at risk of death from flu. Influenza's propensity to transmit between species also means there's a reasonable chance of new strains occasionally developing which can infect and kill a much larger number of people.

No right to health mate. I'm sure that the limited amount that is available can be provided for a price.

Also...the flu jab doesn't help with new strains, that's why it has to be updated every year.

We also pretty much have an NHS staffing crisis every winter as it is, and this is not counting the increased staffing pressure on the NHS because they can no longer rely on people from the EU.

Maybe it'll be just what is needed to send it tumbling down? The NHS eats money like it'll some day run out; a very brave and finance-focussed government needs to pull the plug.

Doctors affect on policy-making tends to be as a white-coated vice squad, they're constantly advising the government to restrict what people can and cannot put into their own bodies.

Health isn't really that important anyway.

Not like we need it to live or anything.

Imagine pretending to be vaguely nationalist, then thinking that paying a bit more tax is a bad tradeoff for protecting the vulnerable and key workers, rubbing your hands at the prospect of damage to infrastructure and key institutions and hoping they'll collapse just because you personally don't need them.

National interest my arse.
