In most areas, men and women have equal rights. They can both vote, they both have freedom of religion, they can both move where they want, say what they want. At least in the first world, anyway. That's not just a contest that feminists are winning at.

A major component of which is lower pay for men on paternity leave being perfectly legal because of female privilege being explicitly protected under law. That means less assistance, and less cash.

You will be able to tell which pundits and politicians and publications whining over the wage gap are sincere and which are just female supremacists from their behavior over this. I'm actually comfortable using it as a litmus test. If they don't comment on and oppose this court ruling but continue to complain about the wage gap, then any of their pretensions that feminism cares about mens issues too and so on should be rejected for what it is, gaslighting in order to distract from blatant sexism.

Well not really, no. I do agree that paternity leave is far shitter than it should be and yeah, it felt like a kick in the teeth.

However, that's a fraction, a drop in the ocean compared to all the other financial reasons why having kids is far too expensive these days mate.

Top of the list would be the insecurity and expense of renting from the private sector, followed by low pay, closely followed by concerns over job security, then probably distance from own parents and lack of the vital social network you need to have to raise kids and massive cuts to state support for child raising.

It's not feminism that's fucked us on this one, it's our current itineration of neoliberal capitalism.

It's both. Both contribute to difficult parenting situations and dynamics, and result in lower birth rates and so on. But changing one law is an easier step than overhauling an entire economic system.

... and that is not a good thing considering how often America drags us into various wars that don't really serve our interests yet get Europe inundated with refugees fleeing the bombs. If anything, we should make moves to distance them.



The situation isn't analogous, we don't border an enemy state with massed artillery trained at the capital.

Problem is that the only way we can make Brexit work now is by being Trump's bitch, so apparently we're not allowed to criticise how the US forces us to do things.

This is why I suggest that Brexit supporters should give up on free trade agreements and support isolationist autarky instead.
