Not really a checkmate. One of the foundations of EU law is the principle of mutual cooperation between friendly states. Any action taken in bad faith by a Member State that violates this principle can be overturned by the EU courts. So, the Court of Justice can reinstate those sacked by Johnson. Furthermore, the UK in and of itself does not have the power to veto legislation. They have a large say, but regulations can still be passed without the consent of the UK.

Furthermore, Johnson has achieved the exact opposite of what he wanted to. Not only has he still violated the Act that forced him to seek an extension by violating its intended purpose, but he has alienated all other EU leaders. And they know that the best way to fuck with him is to give him an extension. Johnson will lose the few willing allies he has left in the EU, and he has dramatically overplayed his hand.

Of course they are. It's all they can do. They don't have the capacity to debate honestly so they practice dishonesty. Call their arguments stupid, keep demonstrating why they are stupid (and honestly when up against these two that is hardly difficult - Vass cannot read and Gorn cannot argue past one liners that generally miss the mark) and they'll soon run away with their tails between their legs.

Seems like the US recalled her after the UK police started talking about arresting her, and if that's the case her immunity will surely never be waived. (So it might be that she didn't lie about her plans either, if that's actually what happened.)

A prominent Sikh Peer who has worked for the BBC for 35 years was going to do a segment on the 5th Guru of Sikhism, the Gurus being the most prominent holy figures and teachers of the religion, who was burned alive for refusing to convert to Islam.

The BBC axed the segment claiming the topic would offend Muslims, and the Sikh has quit, calling the BBC prejudiced. (The script contained no criticism of Islam. It merely matter of factly told the story of the 5th guru and his life and what spiritual lessons can be learned from it.).

There are some unanswered questions here (I'm not willing to simply take his word for it), but I'm curious if you know what the term "axed" means?

Supposedly she was on the wrong side of the road when she hit the guy on the motorcycle. Even if she never has her immunity waived she'll still have to somehow live with that shit for the rest of her life.
