TL;DR
A prominent Sikh Peer who has worked for the BBC for 35 years was going to do a segment on the 5th Guru of Sikhism, the Gurus being the most prominent holy figures and teachers of the religion, who was burned alive for refusing to convert to Islam.

The BBC axed the segment claiming the topic would offend Muslims, and the Sikh has quit, calling the BBC prejudiced. (The script contained no criticism of Islam. It merely matter of factly told the story of the 5th guru and his life and what spiritual lessons can be learned from it.).

This is a good example of how Islamophilia makes everyone who isn't a Muslim into second class citizens. Most prominently white people, but all non-muslims have good reason to be afraid of this trend.

The alternative to Islamophilia as an explanation of this is that the anti-white misandrist types doesn't want distractions from WHITE MAN BAD to be brought up where whites/men are portrayed as uniquely evil and subhuman, and merely utilize "That's offensive" to axe it when it's about anyone other than white males in order to create a disproportionate portrayal.

Or, it could be that that is the *effect* of their idiotic ideology in practice. Since that's been pointed out to them at length, the question of whether it's deliberate malice is moot, they know that is the impact and continue to do it anyway.

I'm not sure what motivated them here frankly. I'm leaning toward anti-white anti-male racism given the total lack of discussion on inter-minority racism they put out there, even when it's between two minorities who aren't muslims.

That is sort of the problem even if the UK stays in the EU and abandons the pound for the Euro relations will be damaged. The Continent will always look at the UK as having a sizable minority capable of occasionally producing governments like Johnson's.

Even if they vote no confidence Johnson, and have the votes for a caretaker government I do not think it is in the EU's interest to grant an extension as it is very likely they deal with a Johnson clone down the line while a brexit deal is negotiated again.
