We can make a replica ditch with a nice sign so tourists can take selfies with that.

Hey, that's a lucrative business idea right there!

More people obstructing traffic while I cycle to work.

Hard pass.

True true, we can't be obstructing traffic. So I think the only solution we have is we're going to just have to kick everyone out of Berlin to make room for the tourists. It's a shame but it's a sacrifice we all, and by that I mean Berlin, needs to make.

It's not Amsterdam.

Thats already being done by people renting their flats out to AirBnB all time.

I'm not in favor of a copy of the Fuhrerbunker being built if most of the original is gone and is too obsolete in design at this point. But I do think perhaps a brand new bunker should be built in Berlin that is bigger and better and more grand and state of the art. It should be lavously furnished and can serve as the center of government for a real emergency going forward, and can store stuff in peaceful times. It can make money from tours if not as an underground hotel.

The Bundes-bunker, it'll be great.

Once Amsterdam and Venice sink into the sea we'll need Berlin to pick up the slack.

It wouldn't be that hard to make an accurate replica. All that would need to be done is install a septic tank on the site.

Supposedly there is one that is connected to an underground subway station through which supplies can be moved into the chancellery.

And then you got a Vault in Bonn.

People like bunkers, I guess. In my city, the old world war 2 bunker is a concert venue now.

If I am ever caught peeing in the Elbe, I'll use "i am pissing on Hitler's grave" as an excuse :)

I wonder if it'll be a get-out-of-a-fine card... 8)

Seconded. There is no need for one nowadays. Sounds like a colossal waste of money.

I can understand old ones and they're cool to go see, but building new ones for seemingly no purpose doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.

You just need one good bunker, that can be kept relevant and as a true safe haven from the outside world while still being connected to it. A bunker that is like a mansion that has everything you can want- will be seriously cool.

That's a pretty poor reason to waste taxpayer money.

I thought either the SS or the Russians blew up most of it after Goebbels redecorated the ceiling.

And also pointless, since you may as well build an actual mansion, as the underground element serves no purpose whatsoever.

It's save from environmental factors. Except when it gets flooded.

Not really, as a bunker in general is much higher maintenance than something at ground level, because of the need to constantly pump air through it, and moisture ingress tends to be a much greater problem too.

We should take up what's left of it, and try to preserve that. It'll be like the ruins of ancient history, which I'd call the "Ruins of the Fuhrer Bunker".

No point. Even if it was excavated much of it would be unrecognisable as a bunker. It has been progressively trashed since the war.

So...you'd just call it what it is...? :eyebrow:

What remains of it are a few decrepit concrete corridors. There's nothing else left of it.
