Should the Führer bunker in Berlin be opened?

2 years ago i was in Berlin, it was too bad i could not visit the bunker of Hitler.
I think it's a missed opportunity from the city of Berlin.

The führer bunker was the bunker were Adolf Hitler spent the last days of his life.

I think the führer bunker should become a musuem open for visitors. It is an important part of the German history and many tourists would want to visit such a place.

It's barely existing anymore. It would have to be completly renovated and refurnished into the 1945 original condition.

But it would probably pay off and be a popular tourist attraction.

However german establishment is way too tight assed and pansy to get cool stuff done. It would be also against their official policy.

Well if they pay a 15-20 eurobucks entry price or whatever they will demand, it will be a profitable venture. But as said german authorities do not want this kind of tourism. (they get it anyways. Selfies at the Holocauster Minecraft memorial are popular)

If in fact that there are still some remnants, I'd probably say no, because it's very likely that it'd be used as a sort of shrine for neo-Nazis & their ilk. But hey, it could also be a great tourist destination...

It's likely that there is very little left of it:

In December 1947, the Soviets tried to blow up the bunker, but only the separation walls were damaged. In 1959, the East German government began a series of demolitions of the Chancellery, including the bunker. Because it was near the Berlin Wall, the site was undeveloped and neglected until 1988–89. During extensive construction of residential housing and other buildings on the site, work crews uncovered several underground sections of the old bunker complex; for the most part these were destroyed. Other parts of the Chancellery underground complex were uncovered, but these were ignored, filled in, or resealed.

No that is the former Gestapo HQ which was bulldozed and a car track was build on top of it, where people without license could drive trash cars. Which is pretty cool tbh. They replaced it with a Museum though.

Given that it's not intact, probably best to just move on. If it was still in good condition, yeah, interesting bit of history, potential tourist attraction -- but I think there's a meaningful difference between preserving and remembering history vs. rebuilding things after they've been trashed, and this isn't something that needs to be rebuilt.

Yup. I'd guesstimate that it'd be a 90% rebuild, based on what has been said in terms of how much the site has been disturbed since the war.
