Anecdotal experience does not trump statistics. I'd honestly go so far as to say that at least two of the breeds categorized as pit bulls are sweeter, gentler, and more obedient on average than others dogs based solely on their higher than average pass rate for temperament tests, a statistic that has been recorded and is reliable in answering such questions with a controlled population.

Pit bulls aren't really the interesting breed for me, but I second this. What may be true to one's experience is not necessarily the same for those from the rest of the world.

Yes because a few Pitt Bulls that were likely abused are totally representatives of all of the Pitt Bulls in the world. It´s not like Pitt Bulls can be sweet normal dogs if raised correctly and violent if raised wrong. Nope Pitt Bulls are just a bunch of inherently aggressive dogs that attack people on sight.

Seriously though my grandparents have a three dogs. A Chihuahua, German Shepard, and a Pit Bull. The German Shepard is a sweetheart and the Pit Bull is a bit of a loner due to being abused. The Chihuahua however is a bit of a dick. Like seriously the thing never shuts up.

I know the feeling. My friend has a Staffordshire Terrier (like yours truly, except mine's a pitty/staffy mix) and a Chihuahua. The Staffordshire is the sweetest baby I've ever met, but the Chihuahua is literally Satan. One time it bit me and I had to get 6 stitches in my hand. I still have the scar.

One was pure chihuahua. He's a chill little snuggle bug who just wants to play.

The other was a Boston Terrier/ Chihuahua mix. He, too, is a chill little snuggle bug who just wants to play. Also, he has a super cute thing he does where he kinda dances when he has a bone or hoof.

I believe there are around 3 millions dogs classified as Pit Bulls in the US. So yeah I would say 26 is a very tiny drop in the bucket to say the least.

Apparently some consider 26 incidents justification to spend millions of dollars in banning a certain breed of dogs. So you know your typical making a mountain out of a molehill fear mongering.

Why kill a dog for something you would not kill a human for?

Umm... I never said that. I cannot really go into that on this site, though I am not against the death penalty for dangerous criminals who have done such things.

Also dogs and humans are different.

A violent dog is a danger. And it is nearly impossible to fix so putting it down is the best way to ensure it never commits another attack.

Also maybe dogs over say 50 pounds/20 kilos require you get a license and complete some training.
