First killing those with mental health problems, and now homeless people? Why are so many Canadians eager to eradicate supposed “burdens” on society instead of spending slightly more to help them? It’s basically social Darwinism under the euphemism of voluntary suicide.

I was going to make a quip about how this is unusually callous of a response for you, but then I remembered your only other notable contribution to this thread was complaining when disabled people won human rights tribunals.

So objection withdrawn, I guess?

Oh, you don't remember complaining about those claims disabled people submitted in their quest to maintain COVID mandates? I do.

why tho

I’m not saying this because I particularly like or dislike any of the parties, but it would be difficult to make a centrist party distinct from the other major parties without holding positions that would be out of place in Canadian politics. Is this just meant to be a party Conservative voters can cast a protest vote for if they decide they don’t like the party’s management?

I guess. Basically the Liberals without any Liberals in it.

The government of Saskatchewan has passed a bill to establish the Saskatchewan Revenue Agency, ostensibly so that the provincial government can "pursue greater autonomy in tax collection."

Honestly, this seems like a waste of money to me, especially because per the CTV News article about this decision, "it will cost the province $10 million annually to do what the federal government has done on Saskatchewan’s behalf for free" just because the provincial government is scared about losing votes to Nadine's attempts at creating her own Buffalo Party, and as the Leader Post article that I linked to earlier notes, you'd have to fill in two separate forms: one for federal taxes and one for provincial taxes.

No clue. I assume it's still ongoing, nothing about it failing or succeeding. Evidently the mandates remain dropped.

Wow you mean removing possibly one of the very few non-controversial figures from the document, one that accomplished an impressive feat in the name of fighting cancer, which is about as unobjectionable of a cause that one could find, would have caused a shitstorm?

Four federal byelections to take place on July 19

These are for Notre-Dame-de-Grace-Westmount, QC(Marc Garneau's old seat in Montreal Ouest/Westmount and a fairly safe Liberal hold with former Party President Anna Gainey likely to win), Oxford, ON(Dave Mckenzie's old seat and a safe Conservative hold for National Party Outreach Chair Arpan Khanna), Conservative Candice Bergen's old seat of Portage-Lisgar, MB(although Bergen's campaign manager Branden Leslie is still the likely winner, Bernier could siphon a respectable amount of votes away), and WInnipeg South Centre(Liberal Jim Carr died of multiple myeloma, his son Ben actually faces a tough battle now that it's an open seat with Conservative RCAF reservist and air traffic controller Damir Stipanovic having a nonzero chance of taking the seat).

Alberta leaders debate lively just hours after Smith found to have violated Conflict of Interest Act

I'm finally starting to see a clearer picture, and I think Notley and the NDP will be back in power.

I don't see it happening. There is no precedent in modern times for the NDP defeating a united right wing. 2015 was the perfect storm for Notley due to vote splitting.

Polling isn’t showing this is going to happen.

The polling is inaccurate. It swings wildly week-to-week. Meme showing what I'm talking about.

If anyone can snatch defeat from the jaws of victory it's the NDP so I won't hold my breath. Especially considering things like, as was pointed out on Twitter, how teachers, nurses and doctors didn't get a raise once during Notley's government, but did during Smith's. Which is just tremendously bad optics for the NDP.
