CBC just did the same. And with almost no change in the numbers....this was officially a waste of time and money that resulted in nothing but the collapse of the Greens(even with an extra possible seat) and a disturbing national rise for the People's Party. Despite getting no seats, a 5% national vote is enough to keep them in the national conversation.

EDIT: Ok, I might be a little too harsh, we've seen the Conservatives rising in Atlantic Canada, mostly on Right Greens, and we've seen the NDP take a few extra seats in Quebec and maybe another in Edmonton and Saskatoon apiece. So, beneath the official numbers, there are rumblings of change.

Pointless, hopeless, pathetic waste of time, money and resources over an election where the change was minimal at best for the big 4 parties, and a collapse of the Greens and PPC remaining in the conversation. What an appalling waste of time. Maybe in 6-18 months we'd get some real change happening because this is just 2019 part 2.

Like I said in my updated post, the NDP's small gains were still enough to keep Singh in the game. O'Toole's political future is in the air, I think, and Paul's definitely out. Blanchet might not stay either given the small losses, but only time and speeches will tell in the next few days.

Again, any changes outside the big 4 parties have been largely minimal at best. Let's be real, Paul is the one out, no one else is going anywhere, Bernier isn't going, nor will Trudeau, O'Toole, Singh or Blanchet. in 6-18 months or so maybe there will be change but clearly I don't see one in terms of overall leadership.

if it were a Liberal majority O'Toole's lifespan would be measured in weeks, but with a minority I think the desire to not enter a leadership race when another election is looming might hold them off for now.

Paul's lost Toronto Centre...going down from second to fourth. All that's left is to see who will take over. Maybe May will come out of leadership retirement. Her and Manly both have a shot, I think.

This is definitely very pointless: it was good that we went out to vote, but genuinely fuckall has changed since 2019 save for maybe the chance that we will have more NDP MPs elected this time around.

I'm not sure if Justin's going to stay: Annamie is not going to last much longer, don't know about Jagmeet or O'Toole, and I'm sure Blanchet might stay.

Probably: I do think so long as May remains in the House of Commons, the Greens will remain in Parliament: once she retires or dies, I think that's basically the end of the Greens.

Trudeau will stay, I've no doubt. They won't repeat the mistakes of the late 2000s, they know another election is coming in '23, and they're going to bank on Bernier growing in power and forcing the Conservatives to go further right again. The PPC did keep the Conservatives from making significant changes in Ontario and kept the Liberals holding their seats in and around the 905.

Another minister lost, Gender Equality Minister and Rural Development Minister Maryam Monsef lost to the Conservatives. So two ministers out...and that looks like that's all that will be.

CBC has not called it.

This was an election no one wanted and no one got what they wanted, Liberals did not get a majority, Tories did not form government, NDP did not play kingmakers, Bloc did not win Quebec, Greens lost support and the PPC did not win a seat.

OK...I just heard on CBC the best summation of this whole affair: This wasn't an election, this was a $600 million cabinet reshuffle. Henceforward, this election shall be known as the $600 Million Shuffle.

Good summary on CBC:

"This was an election that no-one wanted, and nobody got what they wanted."

-No majority for Trudeau
-No government for O´Toole
-No landslide in Quebec for Blanchet
-No holding the balance of power for Singh
-No seat and no leadership for Paul
-No seats at all for Bernier

Yep, totally agree, and Raitt was right too, 600 million dollars just to reshuffle the cabinet.

Agreed, this whole election was a waste of time and money since the Liberals still have a minority.
