The local pharmacy has masks for pretty cheap, and I've found that people in Victoria are generally pretty good about social distancing and masks (though too many wear them incorrectly). I'm actually quite happy with how it's all been handled here.
I just wonder how things will go when Ontario reopens next month, if they'll just throw caution to the winds like so many down here.

Ford has been surprisingly empathetic and cautious in his approach to Ontario's pandemic for the most part and would decry such calls as the work of a bunch of yahooooos, out in front of Queen's Park.

I guess I'm mostly okay with it. I hate the idea of conscription but I also realize it was an entirely different world in WW1 and some bad decisions were necessary. I totally identify with him not being a people person and only entering politics because he felt it was a duty of people who were well off to serve the public. It'd be rad if this was more based off politics and less on personality, but it's still an interesting experience. I am apparently least like Brian Mulroney (38%).
I also found this funny:
Stephen Harper - 58.33%
Justin Trudeau - 56.94%

Ford has surprisingly been a good premier.

Still would prefer either the Liberals or NDP to him at the moment though.

The word should be "surprising" really, but he'll probably be trounced by the Liberal comeback machine in 2022.

Eh I would have said the same before Covid.
Horwath has proven to be an ineffective opposition leader and the NDP, bless their hearts, always have a hard time, you know, actually winning anything.
Del Duca and the Liberals looked poised to storm back to power, but with the, as you say, surprising development that Ford is not as much a Trumpian wackjob as we all assumed, alongside the "rally around the flag" effect from this crisis, he might have a chance. Ford would just need to spin the hell out of this crisis, and pray people connect Del Duca with Kathleen Wynne.

I guess the NDP will never truly get out of Rob Rae's 1990-95 governmental shadow in Ontario.

They do not have a particularly good record in Government in most provinces.
The biggest exception to that rule would probably John Horgan and his current minority government, but his success is more from an abundance of caution than anything else. He is governing like a Liberal more than a New Democrat.

The out-and-out conservatives I mean we know how that goes, but the red tories tend to say nice things about her. It'll be interesting to see how the next provincial election goes, since Kenney is presiding over a still difficult oil slump (though let me tell ya real wish I was in a position to gamble on oil futures).Jedi Council wrote:Kubra wrote: maybe it's just the whole Edmonton bubble thing, but Rachel is still very well regarded.
True, I should have given Notley a shout out too, she is pretty respected in most circles, save for most Conservatives I know.
I mean, she did her best in an almost impossible situation. I admire her just for that alone.

I would too but his assistance in growing OHIP and expanding mental health is kinda great ngl.
His education ideas are bs tho.
In other news: I saw a you tube ad from a farmer group of Ontario saying that Trudeau hasn't helped farmers during this pandemic (he has), Trump is somehow doing good protecting his country from COVID (fucking what? 6,030 dead vs 91,664 dead? No contest we are doing better then the US) then proceeded to whine about being taxed for yeeting carbon in the atmosphere.
But then again if my relative on my step moms side who is a farmer, is in Ontario, hates Trudeau, loves Trump, and was/is in love with the PPC is anything like the people who made this ad then they probably voted PPC in 2019.
If that is indeed the case then oof. OOF 1.6%.

Of course if they don't I understand. Health of the people will always come first.
On that note, what else will he announce today? The ARMS fighter for Smash? Exact date of the PS5 release? Half Life 3?
Who knows?

Surprising to me really, I always assumed Black was a bit more sympathetic to the Reform/Harperite wing of the Party.
That being said, I would not exactly argue that Peter MacKay is a glorious call back to the Progressive Consercative, red Tory legacy that some make him out to be.
