How inconvenient. However, it does show and express American patriotism. It is perhaps a celebration, a salute to America, or a show off of power, or a show off that Trump still cares about the veterans by showing he hasn’t forgotten their service.

I don’t like to think negatively, but it could be a stunt to promote his re-election. Perhaps we shouldn’t dwell on that too much and celebrate 243 years of the US?

Oh, I definitely believe he's doing it in part for his reelection, but he's definitely not putting as much emphasis on it as some people would have you believe. I think Trump is really doing this because he wants to show how amazing the United States really is. It's a celebration, and just the fact that he's organizing it might help him get reelected. It might not even be intentional (Although this extreme is admittedly unlikely).

Giving a presidential speech on and about a national holiday like the Fourth of July isn't a bad thing, but driving tanks and aircraft through and above the capital might be a bit much.

An improved economy, much lower unemployment, diplomacy with North Korea and getting members of NATO to pay their fair share doesn't feel like an authoritarian dictatorship to me. If you want to see Authoritarian dictatorship, move to China; but leave America alone.

Diplomacy with North Korea will get you nowhere, and Trump seems to love Kim's absolute power and authoritarianism. Out of all the socialist hellholes on Earth, NK is the worst of them all.

The man is a spiteful petulant child who loses it whenever people dont bend over backwards to suck off his ego, look at his twitter feed on literally any day to see this from him. He always throws bitch fits whenever anything he tries to do is challenged and constantly acts like an egotistical ass. This is ALL this parade is for, that is all.

That and wanting to emulate daddy putin.

35 minutes of fireworks could run us millions of dollars. Since fireworks mostly come from China it is a tad bit counterintuitive to push for such a display during a trade war. I'd rather see the money go to the VA or something. The only new thing are tanks and Bradley's which are just a political stunt.

It did delay flights and cost taxpayers money... American Pride can be shown in cheaper, yet quality and more expressive ways.

I see that people are quite discontented. At least look on the bright side that Americans demonstrate patriotism at its finest. Though I have mixed opinions...

We're going to need to cooperate with the world further tho.

The money isn't going to be a big deal. Sure, taxpayers as a whole might be paying a few million, but divided by the number of taxpayers in the country, and the price per person is basically nonexistent. The show is going a bit above what any other president has done, and honestly the controversy its generated is so much more exaggerated than it should be, just because Trump's the one doing it. The Air Force might be a bit overkill, but the rest is just more than usual.

Usually a military parade is only done in the US, after an objectively victorious war. It was last done after 1991's Persian Gulf War. I'd actually like a new precedent being set where this can be done every year. We should be able to show up Russia or China but we don't.

Usually a military parade is only done in the US, after an objectively victorious war. It was last done after 1991's Persian Gulf War. I'd actually like a new precedent being set where this can be done every year. We should be able to show up Russia or China but we don't.

We can do that in a manner of building up the military and eliminating the billions of dollars of waste in the bureaucracy, not rolling tanks through the streets.
