Also how is this just an alternate timeline of Medieval Europe? Magic aside, we have administrative committees whose members only serve 1 year terms voting on what to do (fine, assuming this is set in Venice) with someone who's being kept in a top secret glass prison, heavily medicated to keep her alive, and assessed by state psychiatrists? Why not just have this in a modern setting?
Give her a Christmas meal if she can recite the entire Bible from memory while standing on her head juggling ice cream, I guess.

Didn't the word pogrom tip you off. Jews.
Both of those religious hated jews but tolerated them because judeism allows for usury and thus banking. That's where the whole stereotype of the greedy jew comes from. Back than jews literally were the people everyone owed money to. Unless you wanted to owe money to the Italians. That was an option as well. But skipping over merchant republic politics for a moment the TLDR is that when a local noble, or just guy with money needed more he'd go to the jews. And when that same guy decided he was sick of paying back his debts he'd round up the peasantry and tell them the jews were poisoning wells or something.

Well clearly she can't care about Christmas that much then, can she? And thus her 'sadness' at not being allowed a Christmas meal is nothing more than the attempt of a manipulative psychopath to elicit sympathy from her captors.

Would you feel sad if your Christmas meal gets revoked in her situation?
I think it’s natural

If I was a genocidal sorceress locked up in an inescapable prison, I'd probably feel generally quite sad about being locked up in an inescapable prison. What I get to eat at Christmas probably wouldn't be much of a concern.

Or join a crusade, but why go all the way to Jerusalem to kill infidels when you have some conveniently at home.
Also, for IM, there were pagans in the Baltics until the 15th century.

Where would your focus/concern be?

I see...
and is there a difference between how Christmas is celebrated in Europe vs North America?
How about what it means to people on either side of the Atlantic?
here in Hong Kong, Christmas is massively massively commercialised holiday, to the point where I DEFINITELY could not set this hypothetical scenario in the far east in a similar city

No idea, I'm not familiar with American christmas celebrations outside of hollywood movies and coca cola advertisements.
