I'm not in to youtube much but this is tragic. I believe a culture of death is taking place in America and people don't take it seriously. Remarks can have effects and joking about suicide does nothing to make the subject lighter.

Actually wealth lowers suicide risk.

Godamm. I just found out about this. I really have never watched him but it is always tragic to learn about this kind of stuff. And what is worse is that I heard that some toxic part of his fanbase basically egged him on and made fun of his breakdown. I don´t know how true that is but if it is true than those people disgust me.

I hope his friends and family are well and are able to recover from this tragedy.

Probably not, my understanding is that poor people smoke more cigarettes too though. If you want to smoke go for it but I wouldn't expect health benefits if I were you.

If you are poor the odds of suicide are higher. In fact money troubles are the primary cause in the US. Being man increases this a lot. I have no idea who the deceased was but suicide is common among certain professions. Primarily physical labor oriented work. However jobs in media and entertainment also suffer.

Ok a quick search. He had under a million subscribers. Uploaded porn to YouTube to get banned intentionally. Taunted police officers that had a warrant, and repeatedly hit himself in the head while screaming and crying because he saw a video game get announced. I truly hope his family saw the signs and contacted mental health professionals.

Edit: he wasn't rich. He was asking people on twitch for money to buy food a while back.

RIP

No one starves to death in america, and I would rather be poor but feel cared for and supported than be rich and alone.

I'm used to being the worst of both worlds tbh

Just because you never heard of him doesn't mean he isn't well known

This is true. Just seems like an obituary in a newspaper would be a better place for this.

This may come off as very cold, but ultimately that won't do much.
Yeah sure, people are going to be talking about it, but give it a month, or, less than that actually, and it's just another Youtuber to be added to the list of those who killed themselves.
Which, I guess, wasn't his goal as he said in his "I'm sorry" video.

Learned about his disappearance a few days back, and his death last night. Leaving his cellphone and other belongings by the bridge was definitely a telling sign. Sad that he was found dead.

I didn't follow him religiously or anything, but I'd known about him for a while, and watched some of his stuff on and off. He was pretty entertaining. It was pretty concerning when he began to act weird, and then get hospitalized, though. He really should've gotten better help; should've had more support from his peers too. Still, shame that he's dead. It's weird, thinking that I've watched the guy on and off before, and now that dude is dead. Reminds me of TotalBiscuit.

Normally, no. But it is still possible in that around 5% of US households have extreme enough food insecurity to really be imperiled. How it works is that usually there is more food produced than is needed on an annual basis, but what doesn't get sold- or the nasty and almost expired food, that is what people get to have for free, because it'd otherwise simply get thrown away. Beggars can't be choosers, so that's perfectly fine in most people's opinion.

Logistically, distribution is always going to be imperfect- so some people just won't get what they need. That is why we haven't solved world hunger. Stuff that could be used is discarded all the time or arrives too late to where it can't be used.

I'd say its more common in the US for people to die if they don't have air conditioning and its hot enough where they're at. At the lower end of wages, you can't have it all- you have to only have one or a few major expenses.
