This happens every year, on both sides of the aisle. Just recently it happened with democrats in wisconsin.

Yeah how dare we allow those on the coast and in Portland representation. They should have less seats than those in rural Oregon because they have cattle and grow crops.

Why not? Are they breaking any laws? If no, then it looks like it’s something they can do. They are protecting a vulnerable minority from a majority backed law that will harm them.

I don’t think you understand Atlanta then. Atlanta has been majority non-white for the last 3 decades

We're talking about the metro areas. Atlanta city proper's borders are pretty arbitrary.

But see, anyone who lives outside of a major city can't count as a person. That'd be silly.

The rest of the nation is not like NY Lumen. In quite a lot of states, pretty much all of them, the biggest offices are all elected plus the entire judicial branch.

Either way it’s pretty much a moot point as the bureaucracy will still keep running

I am not referring to offices like Attorney General or Comptroller. We elect those in New York.

There are many appointments the Governor of every state makes to boards and commissions and to lead state agencies and other positions within those agencies. The head of the DMV is appointed by the governor for example

Presumably, the Georgia march for life.

That’s pretty much the only time people from outside of the metro ever go downtown much less into Atlanta. Outside of that you’re going to be hard pressed to find people in the metro area who agree with the abortion law.

This has happened before. I think Oregon Republicans did it like a month or so before this, and it worked. Other notable examples are Wisconsin Democrats in like 2011 and Texas Democrats in 2003(?).

You said inner city. Besides the metro area is pretty much half and half at this point. During the hight of the BLM protests nothing crazy happened in Atlanta.

I really don’t think anything would actually happen in Atlanta. Many conservatives hate going near it while many liberals hate leaving it

by shutting down the government? Why not just not show up at all until the next election since they dont respect that they lose the last election?

You said earlier that these Republican Senators should ignore their districts’ constituents and instead vote for what the state as a whole (aka the urban majority) wants.

Well sticking with the Sunbelt, a BLM guy did go on a killing spree in Dallas.

I'd still consider an antifa attack on georgia march for life to be the closest thing to a plausible scenario that leads to a spiral of out of control political violence.
