Tensions were already smoldering in the Oregon Senate Wednesday, when Sen. Brian Boquist, R-Dallas, poured gasoline on the situation, suggesting he would shoot and potentially kill any state trooper sent to haul him unwillingly back to the Capitol.

Iirc, this is something that can be done. Sending police out to “arrest” senators and bring them back to the house when they flee like that just to prevent quorum from being reached.

Maybe it's a sign that the United States should be broken up.

No matter which way you go, someone will be unrepresented

Which is why elections are garbage and propoganda to make the general public think they have a voice

Other than the republican lawmaker ridiculously grandstanding about trying to kill state troopers, what exactly is the fundamental difference here from what the dems did in wisconsin over their union bill?

Nonexistent claims of advocating for fully open borders.

Just the vacancy?

Also what Ajit Pai did in this video has been more ridiculous then anything else.

Yeah, Definitely unfounded claims on open borders

The Vacancy itself caused a lot of problems because the dems couldn't take another Supreme court nomination, going so far as to make a false rape accusation against Kavanaugh. Overall, They reacted completely ridiculous during that time, more ridiculous than this oregon thing.

It took fifteen minutes of this thread being up for you to bring up the following:

- the Russia investigation
- the border
- the Supreme Court
- Brett Kavanaugh
- Congressional Democrats
- the Electoral College

Things that have absolutely zero and nil pertinence to this thread:

- the Russia investigation
- the border
- the Supreme Court
- Brett Kavanaugh
- Congressional Democrats
- the Electoral College

Things that are being discussed:

- Republicans walking out of the Oregon legislature.

That being said, while it is childish, I can understand their reason for doing so- they've done it before, Democrats have done it before, it's effective at proving a point when you know you can't win the vote. I just wish it was for a noble cause instead of throwing a fit about not being allowed to kill the environment anymore.

In response to your last paragraph, yes.
And by the way, I fully support bringing them back with state troopers in both cases.

It is just as valid for people to take the position of, soil matters more. The founders of the nation arguably included the electoral college for a reason. Phasing it out is not in keeping with the spirit of the system the country has had from the beginning. Supporters of the Electoral College aren't going to let it get phased out without a fight.

Can you actually prove that will happen though? Or are we just relying on vague fearmongering about DE COASTAL ELITES to ram through anti-democratic measures?

EC sucks, but so does the popular vote determining everything

All in all, like I said, the concept of elections is garbage. It’s propaganda used by the state to create the illusion that everyone has an equal voice
