What if this isn't WWII era China and officials/soldiers in the current regime aren't all horrendously corrupt?

Wh...what....?? Where the hell did that come from...? :eyebrow:

Sorry, i was in Hong Kong thread mode. There was one incident where Generalissimo Chiang Kai-shek fired a subordinate for pointing out how corrupt the KMT was. Said subordinate accurately identified a Communist spy because they were one of very few soldiers/officials who didn’t take any bribes. Of course, this isn’t so much a vindication of the Communist guerillas as an indication of just how awful the KMT was.

Maybe you were thinking more along the lines of Jimmy Carter? He’s probably the best person we’ve ever had in the White House but that doesn’t mean he was an effective president.
I still can't believe that Brazil lost to Germany 1:7. Copy and paste onto your sig if you were alive when this happened.

This account is the predecessor state of Jamilkhuze and Syfenq. This is how they're different, and this is why they exist.

New California Republic was like “I wouldn’t trust a politician that didn’t have any dirt under their fingernails” or something like that.

You find out about this from one of Tom's old friends, however, the friend tells you that it's against Harvard's Code of Honour to spread bad rumours about their ex graduates. So you are 100% sure that no one is going to the press about this.

...Why would a Harvard law school graduate be associating with a plebian, community-college graduate such as myself? The chances of my interaction of someone in that class is either as a worker or possibly, in the most fevered Hollywood-esque dream state, be a mentee or the son-in-law of a marry-down marriage to this person. Even if we were tight, chances are my MIL/FIL/Mentor is not going to mention them getting kicked out of a study group a few decades ago, or even remember it.

Either way, them producing this bit of information to me incidentally is unlikely. So they had to purposefully seek me out to divulge this bit of info. Now the question becomes a case of "why did this person seek me out to know this?" To smear Tom? To ensure I know all sides of the story? It's all very dependent on the relationship I have with this person.

Barring this incident, if he did somehow manage to align perfectly to my anti-feminist, otherwise make-AOC-look-like-Biden politics in the U.S. system? Fuck it - I'd be inclined to take an L on total purity than kick out a potential winner.

I vote for Tom.

The Republic of Ourisio: A semi-isolationist democratic socialist, "muscular" parliamentary republic with hispanophone minorities, conscription and a world-class aerospace and tech industry in the far north. Famous for pioneering powered flight and bad food. Think "Norwayifornia" but more fighter jets and robotic arms.

This is one of the easier hypotheticals. Has anyone ever lived without saying or doing something stupid in the process? People grow, if you refuse to associate yourself with anyone who isn't and hasn't always been a paragon of virtue you'll have to become a hermit.
Are these "human rights" in the room with us right now?

And again how is your entire spiel about China relevant?
