Sorry, i was in Hong Kong thread mode. There was one incident where Generalissimo Chiang Kai-shek fired a subordinate for pointing out how corrupt the KMT was. Said subordinate accurately identified a Communist spy because they were one of very few soldiers/officials who didn’t take any bribes. Of course, this isn’t so much a vindication of the Communist guerillas as an indication of just how awful the KMT was.
Maybe you were thinking more along the lines of Jimmy Carter? He’s probably the best person we’ve ever had in the White House but that doesn’t mean he was an effective president.
