The possibility of him being a perv aside, I'd be less repulsed by Jones if the vast majority of his subscribers didn't take him at face value (which is a common claim). But given the income he's generated by pushing snake-oil and peddling conspiracies, I'd argue a majority of his listeners genuinely believe the guy, regardless of what he says. That to me is what makes him especially despicable.

And, now, y'know, the allegations we're seeing.

Granted it is hardly a good look for him, and even if he gets away with claiming it was unsolicited email, and avoiding jailtime (The article mentions emails). His threating to kill someone on the air may cross the line of what is protected speech.
