Ah yes, the Third Crusade. The Pope did not approve of that attack and all that were involved were ex-communicated. But you are right, it did happen and this attack, as well as the quotes said by this "pastor" should be condemned.

This is one of the most terrible things about social discourse in the US. The "ideas" preached by Southern Baptists is unforgivable and undebatable, one should never become "desensitized" enough to just go "meh, the Southrons are at it again" when they spew poison like this.

I mean. Why not? What are we supposed to do, chuck free speech in the dumpster because some people are dicks?
That's dumb.

I mean yes, the smart action would be "chuck free speech into the dumpster if necessary and fine people for saying shit like this, like every civilized country on earth", but I realize how "'words and actions have consequences' applies to me too" might be a tad too much of a culture shock for Americans. However there is the option of not taking the "it's just the Southrons, they do this" once and for all and not shutting up when the fucking waste of space goes "maybe we should execute all Gay people".
Sure, the correct action would be to put him in prison, but saying "no, they shouldn't." louder than they talk until they get crushed by opposition platforms is a fucking start.

1- "Offending" people isn't a crime, and shouldn't be. Calling for genocide is, and if it isn't a crime in your country, your country is the one that has a fucking problem... Which, we already know it does. We've known for two centuries.
2- That you unironically think that proves why you're not only not civilized but not fit to live in a civilized society either.

1.) That's little more than a particularly offensive remark. Is it a shitty thing to say? Certainly. But unless it's an actual, credible threat/call to action right now. Rather than simply espousing a terrible ideal... Then it's not part of a crime.

Any call for genocide is a credible and actual threat and call to action "right now" until the target of that genocide has been completely exterminated. Some of them just don't get answered by enough people.

No it's not. People say things and then do nothing all the time.

To be perfectly fair, you would have had a different reaction the moment a black supremacist of the Nation of Islam called for all "white devils" to be cleansed from American land and for all Republicans to be massacred.
