most human now live in metropolitan area with high density. Doing your business not in proper way (transferred to sewage system or other kind of processing eg. composting) in such close proximity will attract bugs, make smell pollution, increasing rate of diseases widespread especially in tropical area, & be a suitable nutrient for bacteria to growth and then polluting open water & clean water system.

I also open with new ideas since so much human now and more in the future, if faeces sludge could be utilized to support more sustainable food producing/ energy producing. I know one professor that collected faeces sludge and sterilized it with gamma irradiation. Sterile sludge then used as fish feed (tilapia). From sensory test & everything, tilapia that fed with faeces has better taste & sensory qualities and also more cost effective. Maybe researches like this could be push to utilize any waste not only faeces to produce biogas or food.

For me personally nothing taboo since everything good or bad is come from perspective / way of thinking of specific person but could you imagine if you live in NYC then in hot summer your neighbours just defecate in front of the flat and provide you with the smell anywhere from the lobby to your flat.

See **any** epidemic brought on by densely populated areas and low sanitation quality. It doesn't matter if it was in the streets of a major city or a reserved section in a park. It decays into nature yes, but say your opinion or projected thoughts work. Everyone has the total freedom to defecate in natural areas. Unless you're paying someone to be a literal poopscooper in that area (which is humiliating in all regards given it's human fecal matter), in many cities or towns even, there's no way such a reserve can handle the people who choose to go out and do this anywhere from 1-2 times every other day without quite literally overspilling.

Another issue is convenience. I don't even have to argue why you shouldn't be allowed to crap on the streets or your front lawn or in the front of a building. That's unsanitary, scarring to children (raised in a first world environment who haven't acclimated to it), an eyesore, and contradictory to so much development of a human race. We're not talking an outhouse or a hole, but out in the world. Onto the topic of convenience. Are you really going to spare running all the way to this hypothetical reserve when you have to go? The toilet is just down the hallway, and in many cases much closer than even the backyard. Whether it be an "emergency" or a matter of laziness, many wouldn't want to waste those few seconds.

You know, I think most people would disagree, and I’m probably about to yelled at for all of eternity, but I think that this is an okay idea, if there were designated defecation places. I know this is sort of not what OP was talking about, but I think that public defecation on its own isn’t the bad thing, it’s public defecation in cities and settled areas. If designated defecation zones were made in cities, it would be fine by me, as long there was thought put into its location.

This may just be because I happen to live near a place where there’s lots of poop lying around, and not all of it is necessarily from animals.
