the whole point of the Gideon's mission is provide Bibles to those who need them. The hotel is given more Bibles than rooms for that very reason.

For their Gideon Bible collection, of course.

I have a few dozen bibles that I have taken from hotel rooms across the world, in a variety of languages.

And no, I am not joking.

One is just a place where you can stay for a night, and another has much the same stuff, only it has a view of the beach, ocean front, or whatever else that makes real estate more expensive in terms of location and exclusivity. It's not worthwhile in my opinion to pay extra for the view.

A budget hotel isn't exactly allowed to be a shithole to cut costs, in that it still has to be up to code and provide room cleaning and etc. for guests.

What is the relevance here to the topic?

Room cleaning probably includes removing contents left behind by previous guests.

I'm an atheist and I don't particularly care. Hell, sometimes I read the room bible. I'm not sure why anyone would have negative feelings about it, aside from being an easily offended crybaby.

I dont believe its considered theft as the hotel is given more Bibles them rooms because sometimes people do take them. The whole point of the project is to provide Bibles to those who need it.

Much to the chagrin of a growing faction of conservatives that want to see public libraries abolished.

Okay and?

If libraries exist then people have easy access to the Bible.

Geneviev wrote:Why would anyone take them?

You seriously believe that going to a library is easier than just having a Bible in your hotel room provided?

That seems incredibly petty if that is indeed the reasoning. Just looked through the rest of the posts and thankfully that is not the reason.

Depends on the hotel. Most of the ones Mrs. Scomagia and I have stayed in will totally bill you for any towels you take.

We always raid the soaps and shampoos, though, for the care packages she makes for the homeless.

NRSV and DRC1752, I also reference the Hebrew, Septuagint and Latin Vulgate when studying.

KJV is considered by a ton of people to be the best, most faithful English translation of the Bible that exists. The one main flaw against it, is that the English language it uses is a bit archaic because it was written in the 1600s. I'd say that there is a reason KJV is the most common translation of the Bible out there, or at least is the most common Bible in the US.

I could actually open a very multiethnic church with the number and variety that I have, if I was so inclined.
