I've been in hotels where I've found not only a Bible, but also the Book of Mormon.

Was this outside the Morridor? Kinda surprising if so.

As FJS shows, a really good British Sitcom. The Vicar's a woman, and she is the main focus of the show. Dawn French, Roger Lloyd-Pack, couple of other fairly large British names. But the episode in question, she is discussing what to give up for Lent, and the village council suggest giving up chocolate. They open up the Bible, and there's a hollow section with a large chocolate bar inside of it.

Honestly, for many reasons, that's the best episode of the show.

I find that they usually place KJV which is disheartening as a Catholic; however I see no reason for them not to be doing this, other Religions as well. During my last stand out in Denver there was a Gideon Bible and a Quran, I popped that open and found it to be a pretty interesting read.

I’ve read parts of the Bibles in the hotel room to compare it with my version of the Bible. My version of the Bible is a little different, in terms of fixing up archaic terms and making them simpler. But I don’t use the Bibles in hotel rooms for study.

I don't object to there being Bibles, Qurans or whatever being in a hotel room; respect for an individual's choice of belief. Where I draw the line is cult materials being in hotel rooms. How would you feel seeing something from Heaven's Gate or The People's Temple in your hotel room? If you don't see a problem do a little research and youll quickly find out why you should remove this kind of material.

As the receptionist I’d probably just take it home. I’m too lazy to go back up.

If nothing else, the hotel could ask if you'd like a book and which one when you make your reservation.

I was thinking the same. I kinda like this idea.

I would object to seeing Qu'rans in American hotels (or in my country if that were the custom, although many people are not religious here), because those countries are of Christian heritage or, in the case of America, simply have a Christian majority. I feel like this would open the door to too much political correctness, because the moment it becomes fashionable to put Qu'rans in nightstands - even in places where Muslims are very few or non-existent - then the hotels who refuse to do such will get branded as Islamophobic. It may be laughable, but in the current context, I can see this happening quite clearly. I simply do not see the point, just like I wouldn't see the point of putting a Bible in a deeply religious Islamic country. It seems to me more like a jab than anything else ("Christians want their books in there? Well then, it's okay for them to do so as long as I can place my religious books there too!).

In the end, it's up to the hotel, though. If an hotel catering to Muslim travellers opens up in the middle of Wyoming I won't mind if it has Qu'rans in each rooms.

I don't like this. Also, the apostrophe goes after the r, not after the u.

It's not disrespectful not to put the other books. I feel like people are too concerned with making a point for the sake of making a point in this debate. Because then, which religions are "major" and which are not? What about atheists and Pastafarians? Etc...

Atheists don't have holy books, and I don't think Pastafarians have one either.
