I'd rather just go down to reception, as that's the only way that something would actually get done about it.

They should be allowed in hotel rooms too.
and you can stop being asshurt about it.
Also it is not being shoved down your throat,
if you don’t like it don’t read it, the angels aren’t going to decapitate you for that.

That is not what is happening.

The kind that appear to make you see things more clearly.
The entire point of the Bible is that humans are irredeemable and broken, and thus need to lean entirely on god or else god will put them in hell. How is that not self deprecating?

It's not disrespectful not to put the other books. I feel like people are too concerned with making a point for the sake of making a point in this debate. Because then, which religions are "major" and which are not? What about atheists and Pastafarians? Etc...

It’s not self-deprecating it’s more realistic. Humans kind of suck at being well good to one another, even pretty good people act dickish from time to time and hurt people. Not really self deprecating when you just realize that’s how people are, you, me, and everyone else no one is perfect and we will always fall short of the ideals. Granted we are straying a lot from the topic at hand, Bibles in hotel rooms so if you would wish to continue this conversation feel free to jump over to the Christian Discussion thread because San Lumen asked once already for me to stop with the religious discussion.

It could just be the most common religions in that country.

Did I say anyone was making me read it?Free Arabian Nation wrote:No, clearly having a singular book in a room that probably hasn't been touched in 3 months is like having a television play Catholic propaganda for 3 hours straight
Our state broadcaster airs Catholic propaganda every day.Geneviev wrote:The Bibles in hotel rooms are meant to help people as much as Bibles in churches.
Bibles don't really help people. They should be allowed in hotel rooms too.
I didn't say they shouldn't be allowed.Scomagia wrote:Or they can keep doing what they do
Indeed they can.and you can stop being asshurt about it.
You seem distressed that I don't approve of Christian propaganda.San Lumen wrote:
That was not the point of their organization. What is your objection? are you being forced to read it or even open the drawer?
what harm is it causing you?
It's not causing me any harm. I just don't like it. So I'm complaining about it on the internet.
Why are people so mad that I don't want Bibles to be treated like this universal good that obviously everyone would want ready access to? I'm not trying to have the Bible banned. I haven't called for the Gideons to be disbanded. I just think they're twats.Korhal IVV wrote:Giving Bibles to people who already have them is kind of a waste.
Books get lost. Damaged. New converts join the church. Also it is not being shoved down your throat,
I know.if you don’t like it don’t read it, the angels aren’t going to decapitate you for that.
Well angels aren't real, so that was never really a concern for me.Ifreann wrote:Is it good to inject Christianity into every aspect of public life?

If you believe in a Divine Creator, humans being a defective species is a clear sign of a defective God. No use worshipping an entity who just went ahead and ruined everything in advance because of His absolutely appalling ineptitude.

If it's somewhere in Singapore or Malaysia, fine, those are truly diverse countries from a religious point of view. But none of the Western countries, where this tradition started, are diverse enough in terms of religion to warrant such a measure, especially at the regional or state scale.

And then one day you look in the mirror and you realize that you ain't you anymore. You're just another monster, and thanks to your actions, someone else will eventually become as warped and twisted as you. Never forget that the best of us are just the best of a bad lot. Being at the top of a pile of feces doesn't make you anything but shit like the rest. Never forget that.
