And I'm sure you also probably support the ongoing Chinese campaign to destroy the freedom and democracy of Hong Kong's people.

I would rather China left Hong Kong alone. However, it’s important for the people of Hong Kong to obey the law and not cause unrest.

But the PRC will not leave Hong Kong alone.
So you think Honk Kong should just roll over and surrender?

More like a kidnapper and his victim, me thinks.

I'd rather Hong Kong stayed a British colony, but hey, politics.

It's perfectly acceptable to jump ship, if that ship is sinking or going off course. The PRC did that many years ago when the ROC proved weak and ineffective.

As for HK, they wanted a cruise to wealth, they instead got a prison ship to Chinese Alcatraz. They need to jump just like their captain did so many years ago.

A cohesive, Western protectionist agenda is much more important than our minor decisions as consumers: Propping up local manufacturing, expanding health and safety regulations, and introducing tariffs across the line; taking steps away from China and to proper, global economics. While it's economical, the consumers will almost always make the pragmatic choice and buy Chinese goods. There's nothing we can do about that. Personally I avoid purchasing Chinese goods without going out of my way to search every nook and cranny for an alternative. Especially in the case of expensive appliances. Shooting myself in the foot isn't worth it when the European ship is currently sailing to a Chinese port regardless of my personal choices.

As a patriot, I always try to buy products made in the USA. Though, I have no reservations on buying stuff made in democratic friendly countries like Canada, Mexico, Taiwan, South Korea, and Japan. I really only buy Chinese-made products when I have no other viable option.

I would love to help local manufacturing (or at least, help the manufacturing of countries I like), but I buy what I can afford, sadly. Also, sadly, most of the stuff I want to buy is made in China, sadly, with no alternative

Answer: "I don't care, with comparable products, its my money."

In practice: everything's cheap is Made in China.

I avoid food and beauty care products Made in China, everything that is gonna within the body or somewhat affecting it.
But I bought super-heavy socks, high-end for China and comparable to good though not top western socks: 12 euro (about 13.5 dollars) for 10 pairs. Comparable western-made socks would cost the same, but for 3 pairs, not 10 pairs.
We're in February and those socks have been used since October, all the 10 pairs are still fine.
