What other reports of the attack do we have though?

The fact that Bolton is an asshat and there have been plans for false flags means that this definitely is one. Totally. It's not a dumbass assumption or anything.

That was all from after the attack. Right now the definitive version of the attack on the Japanese ship is what the crew are saying. Until we have more the claim that what they say should be dismissed because eyewitnesses are unreliable is simply stupid.

We aren't saying it should be dismissed. It shouldn't be given very much credence, though.

An object (probably a missile, since those fly) flew into the ship, according to crew reports.

Who says it was an anti-ship missile? Terrorists are hardly renowned for only using weapons in their designed role.

You do realize not all missiles make big explosions, right? Some make small ones.

but in all those reports not one stated the object was spotted before the explosions nor did they state it was coming toward them so in effect the crew of the tanker could have seen debris from there own ship flying away after the explosion plus not one satellite that is trained on the middle east showed any missiles being fired nor is there a missile trail leading back to shore or to a ship. plus if you look at the photos of the tanker the hole is far to small for even the anti-ship missiles fielded by Iran.

To be fair, can we be sure that whoever attacked the oil tankers had access to anti-ship missiles in the first place, assuming the crew reports are indeed accurate?

except if a terrorist group were to have committed the attacks what would be the end goal? plus they would use suicide bombers like in the case of the USS Cole in Yemen. They wouldn't use anti-ship missiles to attack four tanker ships with a max of maybe 30-40 people terrorist groups want mass death so an anti-ship missile launched at a cruise ship would do better then an oil tanker.
