From his Twattering about how he knew it wouldn't be proportional and we have time because of our great rebuilt military it was probably just meant as tough guy posturing for his base and to tout his supposed restraint and wisdom.

If amid the rising tensions between the US and Iran result in the US doing a full-scale invasion of Iran with the goal of taking their independence and keeping Iran as a US territory, how would that go and what would that mean for the international community and the US itself, both the war itself and if the US succeeds in the war? The US will only go to war if Iran does something that gives them no other option. Therefore, the US reputation will not be affected negatively, excluding Russia of course.

How would the war transpire is something I don't know but we do know that drones and aircraft have basically replaced troops on the ground. Like the US did when attacking ISIS-held territories.

Russia has no mutual defense treaty with Iran. They help each other on certain things but are not official allies. Also Russia has more important relationships with the UAE, Saudi Arabia as Israel. Russia is not going to pick sides amongst those. Nor get directly involved.

Also Russia does not fit the bill as a credible rival either.

The US military is also not in the business of attacking countries the US is not already at war with or has a Congressional authorization to use military force against without a clear order from its civilian leadership, that is to say the President. If that were the case we would indeed be in deep doodoo. Also, every source commenting on the latest fiasco to emerge from this feckless administration agrees the Pentagon argued against the strikes. It beggars belief to claim the Colluder-in-Chief called off a strike the military was about to make without his knowledge or consent.
