So, among other's putting into question the USA's almost-immediate accusations of this being an Iranian attack is the owner of the Japanese tanker that was attacked, who's saying that first-hand reports from his ship's crew talk about being attacked by what was likely a missile hitting their ship, not mines exploding.

This isn't to say Iran is or isn't responsible, just that the US accusations are heavily contradictory to first-hand reports.
