lol.

I assume that countries do things because they expect a good thing happening. If you want me to think Iran did this then you have to give me some kind of motive. If you can't then I assume you're acting in bad faith.

To see what leverage they can gain.

Then again you’re likely compromised as we speak...

Bombing shit without a credible strstegy for the aftermath never works -- unless you want the chaos in the first place.

I can't see a war happening or lasting in the current political climate.
Even Trump as much as he claims to hate Iran knows that going to war will sink him, especially since a lot of people on his side are now anti Neo Con war machine.

And I can't see the Democrats turning pro war with Iran after Obama tried to broker peace with Iran so Congress won't declare war.

The worst we might get from this is another tanker war or Operation Praying Mantis two where the US decides to sink Iran's navy for the crime of existing.

But maybe that's the point, someone wanted to show the world "Look the US is too divided to even get into wars of imperialism anymore!"

But I think after Syria everyone should have realized that already.

ISIS is a fucking gain, apparently. Oh, so was the thousands of Iraqi lives lost to the decade's worth of chaos, upheaval, disorder, all because the US went into Iraq without a halfway credible plan for the aftermath.

Bloody fucking hell.

Where is the United Nations when you need them? Shouldn't they be trying to ease the tensions between Iran and the United States.

......I mean, have the problems escalated into that tensions where the U.N. needs to intervene?
Even if it decided to, I doubt either party would hear it.

That's what I would think since the United States is threating to declare war on Iran. I would think the UN's alarm bells would ring.

Who is going to threaten to declare war on Iran?

Trump?

Trump can't declare war without alienating his base and likely getting Congress jumping on his ass for it.

Congress?

Do you really think Nancy Pelosi is going to allow a vote for a Declaration of War against Iran, you know the same country that Barack Obama was trying to foster a peace deal, just to please John Bolton and the Neo Cons who are still Republicans at heart?

I know the Neocons are starting to switch sides to the Democrats but for now they're still mostly Republicans and a lot of them are still reluctantly in Trump's camp.

Mecca, Medina.

I fail to see how that's a problem as neither city is a valid military target.

So did Iraq and so does Iran, hell so does Syria.

Yes.

Those aren't reasons to storm Tehran and end the mullahs right then and there, not at least without a detailed plan to leave a credible replacement that Iranians can rally over.

But it seems all you guys ever think about it flushing out the problem in front of you without thinking ahead.

This just smells of Tonkin. Far too convenient. If the US does somehow invade the war will be quick but it will be Afganistan 2: Electric Boogaloo. To make it all worse global opinion by the powers that be are mostly against the US. Expect Russian arms to be supplied to Iran. They will not risk heavy US presence so close to their motherland. Not uncontested.
Stuff. Just stuff.
