They're not going to terminate such alliance anytime soon. At least the US isn't. Disgusting as the Saudi State is, it is necessary for American interests in the Middle East, at least as long as Iran continues on its retarded Eternal Islamic Revolution path.Heloin wrote:Just because they are now doesn't mean they have to keep being allies.
Point taken. I'll attempt to be more clear next time.Heloin wrote:Ok, in the future avoid run-ons like that. It took me about 5 reads to work out what you were trying to say and I'll be honest I still don't quite know what that had to do with anything.
*shrugs*. strategic reasons making an alliance with the Saudis necessary aside, fact remains that they are allies at this moment and it is very unlikely for them to stop being so anytime soon. There are many things the US (and NATO) can do that "there is no reason not to", but given current political and diplomatic climate, The US abandoning Saudis to Iran is not one of them, so your point is really invalid.Heloin wrote:They don't have to still be allies. there is nothing requiring the US to stay allied to Saudi Arabia forever no matter what horrible things it does. There is no reason the US can't tell the Saudi Government to go fuck itself.
Apart from various acts of sabotage against American/NATO-led missions against ISIS in the Syrian-Iraqi civil war and the act of taking US Navy officers hostage (all taken by IRGC, thankfully now recognized for the terrorist organization it is), acts of assassination taken by, again, the IRGC, and support of acts of terrorism -breaking almost all rules of war- taken by various other terrorist organizations against Israel, yet another American-NATO ally? I'm not sure what more they should have done, tbh. (All this is from 2015-2019, mind you, nothing "ancient" like invasion of another country's soil i.e. the occupation of the American Embassy in 1980 and the British Embassy in 2011, etc. etc.)Heloin wrote:What has Iran done recently that effects the US or NATO that they should care about?
