There are certain politics or opinions that're inherently rule breaking, but it can usually be expressed in such a manner as to be tame enough to be accepted as legitimate, with people being none the wiser, except for people who can really read in between the lines.

There is no hate speech legislation and etc. in the US that really enforced decorum in US presidential debates, any politeness to be had- was enforced by previous precedent. But Donald Trump came along and recognized that a ton of the GOP base likes more hateful or extreme stuff, he said out loud what many Americans think or want, and he politically got rewarded for his bold and aggressive approach of campaigning.

Trump's primary opponents could argue over how he "dared to go there" whilst Trump could keep pumping himself up as the strongest most Conservative voice and of course, he won doing all this. In a situation where Trump could be banned or excluded for bigotry or whatever (like is the case here), he'd of needed to really watch what he said and would've been very limited in how he could style himself without being too liberal.

The Nazis have already made it abundantly clear they'd kill me (for numerous reasons regarding who I am, in fact) and other leftists. It isn't illegal to be a Nazi, or to be a bigot. As much as I'd love to see Nazis smashed, as a member of the LBGT community myself, we have to actually think about the implications allowing what Torra is calling for.
