How come wars still exist nowadays?

What I can't understand is why people want fewer wars or more peace. Don't people get how great for the economy and technological progress warfare is? Plus our world's population is too high. If we could just get nukes off of the table, we can return to the glory days of large scale conventional wars on a regular basis.

Instead of the insufferably boring international order we have now, we should instead be having the world's major powers in direct conflict with eachother for colonies, resources, and prestige. The era of imperialism and empire building was when humanity was at its best.

Malthusian ideas are absolute, complete bullshit, this entire post is built on economic ignorance, and imperialism was terrible for the world.

Only if you assume there are an infinite amount of resources on a finite planet. Imperialism was definitely a mistake though because it heightened the problem by spreading and fueling the industrial revolution.

Wars exist because humanity is genetically predisposed to committing acts of violence in order to assert dominance toward what they view as their lessers. If this were not the case, wars would have occured in far fewer numbers than they did and inevitably will. Saying that humanity will eventually find themselves in an age of peace is like saying all carnivores will eventually become herbivores. It's childish and incredibly naive to think that humanity has any chance of peace with itself.
