For no reason. It’s a lottery. If it hits your channel, you’re done. I’ll try to find an example I got to see some time ago.

The channel owner had thousands of followers, her channel was incredibly popular and after one particular upload, she fell victim to that algorithm. When asked for explanations, a person who worked for YT and Google pretty much told her they don’t know why this happened. It just was her turn in this lottery. She had to quit that channel and reinvent herself in order to again figure in Google searches and get her new channel popular again. Her content wasn’t flagged as bad. It just happened, and YT/Google can’t explain why that happens.

Generally gamers just play the game to the maximum - which includes destabilizing their opponents. They'll choose what bothers you and makes you play badly if you're playing against them.

Sometimes that's casual racism if that's what bothers you, and sometimes that's insulting John Deere if that's what bothers you.

It is one thing if an end user is violating ToS for Youtube. If that is the case, what did they honestly expect should happen, that they'd get special treatment? It's another if Youtube is hurting your channel for arbitrary or no good reasons. I'd say that is a reason to conclude that Youtube (despite being the biggest name in video) isn't a reliable platform and to start looking elsewhere. Maybe Youtube could eventually no longer be #1 if enough people defect to an alternative and avoid the same decisions that make Youtube no longer as good.

Youtube has been fucking with peoples ad revenue now for years, tonnes of channels have been effected, not just right wing channels. And at the end of a day (and no this is not excusing it) youtube is a private company has advertisement partners and contracts to worry about, they dont want these ads showing up on channels that put out content they are not happy with as it can screw them over or cast their advertisement partners in a bad light.

You also have issues with false copyright claiming on videos and complaints by people who dont like the particular channel getting channels demonetised, ive seen this effect youtubers i like who often set up patreon accounts for example to try and earn back some of the money they are losing out.
