Donald Trump is only the beginning. The future of politics is firmly paleo-Conservative or authoritarian. I wouldn't call the Tree of Life shooter a revolutionary, by any means. He went into a synagogue to kill Jews. He wasn't fighting against civil injustice, he wasn't part of a historically oppressed group, he was a neo-Nazi who wanted to kill Jews. That's it.

Not everyone agrees about what is or is not unjust though. The shooter himself was probably under the delusion that the people he killing were guilty of something. So what if he was wrong? Robespierre and Stalin killed millions of innocent people, so would you deny that they were revolutionaries? Or are you just going to claim they did nothing wrong because you agree with their aims?

I think people tend to be cynical about these things, and it would be surprising. I'm still kind of impressed at how mainstream stuff like gay marriage is becoming compared to the attitudes when I was in high school.

I think there'll be ups and downs, but as a general trend, antidiscrimination policies will continue to spread. And we'll probably have more unisex bathrooms now that people are talking about bathrooms as a transgender rights issue.

I think everyone is surprised at the progression, but we still have a ways to go yet.

Hard to tell. I imagine that LGBT people will become even more of a politically significant force than they are now. But apart from that it's hard to discern specific events that may occur.

I don't think anyone's saying violence is never appropriate just that it's not necessarily appropriate now. If you're looking at a democracy that provides for your safety, allows you to vote, and permits your voice to be heard violence really isn't your best option because if it's appropriate now then it's always appropriate. That's the difference between being Nat Turner and Robert Bowers, whether or not you're behaving like a lunatic.
