On the one hand, while I find the idea interesting in that it allows for a more or less peaceful break with established powers I also find the idea somewhat concerning as well for that same reason. A floating community is surely not something to be obtained cheaply. A large portion of the focus also appears to be less based on practical living and more on exotic luxury, with little thoughts to the economic viability of such a community.

I think some more information about this "seasteading" thing you bring up, stranger. I happen to know that there's a Wiki article on it, there must be more on the interwebnets.

I figured it was fairly self explanatory but...

Self-explanatory? Never assume that here. Besides, it's polite to give people some info to go on, besides your opinion. That's not to say that your opinion isn't eminently valuable, of course, but this is NSG.
As for it being like living in an apartment block but with self-determination, what makes you say that? You'd still be part of a community. You wouldn't be a lone pioneer out on the wet and salty plains. I daresay, given the rather more precarious environment, you'd have more restrictions on your freedom than fewer.

Presumably however it would be a community you chose to join.
