Well one of the options being bandied about by the committee was to only ban them in the context of being used as a symbols of hate. So that option anyway wouldnt ban them if used in their proper context.

We can certainly argue how effective it would be and questions on who defines what is "hate", but it's not quite the "swedes banning their history 4evah", that the sources in the OP quoted claim.

The notion of "proper context" is the issue, some people might just actually like runes and like wearing jewelry or clothing with them on it. People should be able to do that.

Again, nothing's happened yet. The article Ethel linked says this:

The point was that the OP isnt false news, but misrepresentation of what is going on.

The appointed committee is looking at stopping the use of the runes as symbols of hate groups, and seeming to somehow giving the blessing of history to those groups.

There are lots of things they can do, and I suppose one extreme thing is banning all use of runes, but I didnt see that as a preferred option.
