So NASA put out this statement that they are going to put permenant colonies on the moon by 2024 and honestly this is probably the biggest thing to happen with space since the Apollo missions. The video even goes into detail about how they’re going to support the colonistson the moon with a new rocket and a permanent space station orbiting the moon. I however did notice a lack of solutions to the problem of food which is slightly worrying. I myself am probably more excited for this than like anything else ever. What do you guys think? Do you think that this type of space exploration is worth the massive risks?

Finally we shall defeat The Clangers and take our rightful place as Lords of the Moon.

I think you should say what you’re talking about instead of posting a YT link and expecting people to watch it.

I also think NASA should change it’s acronym to North American Space Agency, but oh well.

NASA projects have spawned countless commercial products and technologies, many of which I can't imagine living without. I'm all for any project they can think of, as long as it sharpens the cutting edge.

I believe and hope this time NASA is going to actually do it.

The massive risks are absolutly worth it. No risk, no win.

First steps are always the most difficult and losses are to be expected.

But it is necessary.

NASA’s Space Launch System is coming along nicely and they are realy taking this effort very seriously. With that said, if memory serves Pence said that we should have “boots on the moon by 2024” that isn’t the same thing as a colony. I think it is within our capacity to eventually have a permenant settlement on the moon however, I doubt it will be as soon as 2024.

Based on a press release in April it looks like the plan is to:

1. Test the SLS in a non manned mission (2021ish)
2. Test the SLS in a manned orbit of the moon (2022 ish)
3. Mission to moon (2024)
4. Deep space tests of the SLS/moon temporary colony/Gateway to deep space space station (next decade or two)
5. Mars? (Eventually)

Space Force needs as well the infrastructure of a permanent Moonbase.

John Madden Moonbase soon.

..because the space ship is the fiery dragon landing to help its masters set up a Space Empire that will last 300 years of constant inbreeding.

So it is foretold.

This would be awesome if NASA actually does it.
But cost overruns, mission creep, excessive risk adversion and countless delays will probably mean we never get there.

NASA is a pale shadow of what it was unfortunately.

It cannot even put a man in space anymore.

It has to contract it out. Right now to the Russians.
Soon to US private companies.
But if it cannot even put a man in orbit I see little hope for the moon.

NASA needs a complete restructuring and change of organizational culture. And that is not easy.

Which wouldn't make a whole lot of sense considering Canada maintains its own separate and fairly reasonable space agency.
