Yes, I held it to a higher standard then China's media or Russia's media.

And yes I guess it is on me.

It still is at a higher standard. Not by much, mind you, but Alabama ain’t shanking people for watching it.

Well not yet anyway

Not much of a political statement.

For good or bad gay marriage is still a political issue.

This is why state run media shouldn't be a thing

Given that it's Alabama, APT doesn't air much (that I recall) in the way of politics aside from PBS news. I would assume that it's mainly watched by kids and those people that live in the rural pockets that can't get cable or satellite service so they're reduced to just 4 or so channels. So they wouldn't be influence many people.

They aren't but it still sucks that they made the choice to provide worse service to Alabamians.

And that it is a minor case of censorship.

As an (unfortunate) Alabamian, you're better off holding The Onion to a higher standard than APT.

At Least the Onion is funny.

Despite their flaws, Alabamans are still Americans. And as proud Americans, they would never shank each other for something like this.

According to this, it does get funding from the state government as well as the federal government.

Interesting. So the APT is even more independent of the CPB and PBS than other state affiliations of PBS

Censorship by omission.

It would be like if Russia or Saudi Arabia blocked all footage from the Olympics that had Gay people competing.

Polls are a thing mate. And according to them 67% of Americans approve of gay marriage/consider it normal. Out of all 50 states only Alabama and Mississippi have a majority or plurality against. Alabama with 52% against and Mississippi with 48% against

Also, yes. APT, a television network, has nothing better to do than their job, which is to decide what airs on their channel.

If someone else wants to air the episode they can.

So should a news network not air a peace of news that wouldn't go over well with there target audience?

Bad comparison considering the news media does that all the time.

The news media censors by omission all the time, that's half the reason people are beginning to love Alternative media so much, they report on the things the normal media doesn't want to report on because it might offend people who are their target audience.

And Alternative media gets facts wrong or otherwise reports on half truths creating echo chambers.

But that wasn't the question anyway, it was "Should a news network not air a peace of news that wouldn't go over well with there target audience?"
