Given that it's Alabama, APT doesn't air much (that I recall) in the way of politics aside from PBS news. I would assume that it's mainly watched by kids and those people that live in the rural pockets that can't get cable or satellite service so they're reduced to just 4 or so channels. So they wouldn't be influence many people.

I don't see a problem with this. It's not like it was an actual ban on the episode. APT simply chose not to air it because they figured it wouldn't go over well with the viewers.

Also, yes. APT, a television network, has nothing better to do than their job, which is to decide what airs on their channel.
