Hinduism does not have the same beliefs on this issue as some other religions.
Not all religions oppose this.

Sure India still has major issues but has made progress, and has judicial independence.

Sure, still the BJP doesn't strike me as exactly progressive or libertarian in social matters.

The UN would never care for what happens on Nationstates and the names we use here... or send Max a cease-and-desist order... would they now?

They are busy promoting world peace. As effectively as your average pageant.

An interesting article on the PRC lies and duplicity regarding this.

Not exactly surprising. Authoritarian governments tend to apply their authoritarianism to sexual matters, too.
Anyway, I love the sound of Chinese bitching over who is THE REAL CHINATM. It's so woefully inane.

Hey! In my pageants the onlookers are too busy ogling our models to wage war on each other! My pageants are MUCH more effective than the UN!

The BJP is not. Still the Indian Supreme Court recently overturned the UK colonial ban (which was still law) on gay sex, and the BJP did not stop it.
I doubt the BJP will pass a law for it, but if the court supports it, they will not stop it either.

Considering how the US has indeed taken control of most European economies, balancing the American influence with the Chinese one could be a... how was the wording now? oh yeah, good "temporary tactics".

We did not have always have a near religious belief in “free trade” but we do now. It is a new, post Cold War insanity, but insanity our governments have embraced none the less.

The Chicago School would have a word with you. And it's rather a non post-Cold-War school.

Anyways there is a middle ground between being a “commie” and supporting one sided trade with hostile (nominally “Communist” ruled) dictatorships.

I know, right.

Private corporations can exist, but they should not be above all and allowed to dictate government policy, and their wants supported without question, even when what they want is clearly not always in our best interests.
I never drank the “free trade” Cool-aid.

Good for you. It's bad for breath and teeth.

That “temporary tactic” came back to bite us.
As such things have a tendency to do.

And while the US has not been an ideal trade partner always, we are not trying to actively suppress democracy world wide, and we you have a trade surplus with us anyways.

Sure the existence of free trade fanatics predates the end of the Cold War, but adoption by our governments as a infallible dogma really is a mostly a 90s thing.

India? The country with widespread lynchings about religion and sex? The one with a nationalist-religious majority? Seriously?

Religion bad! >:(

Ignore that the only other country in Asia to recognize gay marriage is Israel (shocker, CNN lied about Taiwan being the first), which is an extremely nationalistic and religious country.

No, the article is correct in reporting that Taiwan is the first asian country to legalize SSM, not just recognize it.
