Heinz-Christian Strache, the head of Austria's right-wing populist FPÖ party, met with a purported Russian multimillionaire on Ibiza in July 2017. She offered him campaign support in exchange for public contracts. What he didn't know was that the entire exchange was being recorded by hidden cameras.

Good riddance, obviously. Why is it always the a nationalists that get involved in these sell-out deals with foreign interests?

What do you think? Horribly unfair setup? Or a sign that populism brings with it a degradation of social and governmental infrastructure that risks dragging developed countries away from that status?

While many self proclaimed “nationalists” are actually just corrupt sell outs, political corruption is hardly limited to the populists. Most political parties in Western countries are actively selling their countries out to foreign interests.
The mainstream parties sell us out to China and outsourcing multinationals, the Saudis, etc.
The populists sell us out to the Putin regime, amongst others.

So as much as I am glad to see a corrupt Putinboo fall, I do not think it really makes a difference in the political trajectory of the west being sold out by our own governments.

European xenophobe and self-proclaimed sovereignist is actually an agent of antiEuropean foreign powers.

Colour me surprised.

Colour me surprised.

I'm sure that it's in Austria's interest for their top politicians to be in the pocket of Russian millionaires. Somehow.

Almost like the rise of the far right in Europe recently has been Russian funded.

It is well know Russia funds the far left and far right throughout Europe.

But money alone does not do it.

Money alone cannot create a political movement. The failure the mainstream parties has created the necessary conditions (and the mainstream parties are sell outs to China and the Saudis, and sometimes even the Russians too).

The one silver lining in the far right making gains worldwide is that far right politicians always end up discrediting themselves and their own worldview through sheer evil and stupidity.

I'd be willing to hypothesize that much of the far right's growth in recent years could be attributed to a multiplicity of inorganic factors, including Russian interference.

To be fair, the guy was not letting in literally any refugees, and wanted to push them into Germany, causing a spike in related hatecrimes there.

Far right person gets kicked out by people who see the far right as what it is: a pile of half truths and lies.

Well what do you define as inorganic?
Sure Russia is backing it, but Russia’s ability to influence things is greatly exaggerated as well.
Russian trolls and funding can only take advantage of a failing mainstream system.
If people were not dissatisfied with their jobs being sold to China by the mainstream parties, the extreme alternatives would have less appeal.

Also the far left gets Russian support as well.

Why would the far left need Russian support when they're getting all those sweet Soros shekels?

Because they will take any support they can get.

Also the Soros shekels thing is hilarious because Soros dislikes Israel and Israel returns the favor.

Also Soros is not a fan of tankie far left either. He is more into funding the center left.

Ad hominems are not good debate points.

But thanks for again proving that Kojima was right.
