I try to meditate for about ten or so minutes before bed - has nothing to do with fitness really, just a beneficial thing to do, for me at least. Was tough for me to focus the first several times I tried it, but once I got the hang of it, it's improved my sleep and overall nighttime relaxation by a tenfold.

Stop working so hard. Go at 75%. Eventually the body gets use to it and then you can go toward max effort. Also stretch and warm up before lifting. Both should help somewhat with muscle soreness.

On the bright side I lost like 3.5 kilos in half a month.

The FitnessGram™ Pacer Test is a multistage aerobic capacity test that progressively gets more difficult as it continues. The 20 meter pacer test will begin in 30 seconds. Line up at the start. The running speed starts slowly, but gets faster each minute after you hear this signal. [beep] A single lap should be completed each time you hear this sound. [ding] Remember to run in a straight line, and run as long as possible. The second time you fail to complete a lap before the sound, your test is over. The test will begin on the word start. On your mark, get ready, start.

Do you feel anything? Are you supposed to feel anything?

I don't recall word for word what meditation does for you and im not inclined to Google it but I think it makes you more aware and improves mental strength or something.

Helps strengthen awareness, focus, and really helps manage stress and anxiety. This means better sleep, faster recovery, and better life in general imo.

And especially don't forget to stretch after working out too!

Sorry for the late response here, but the answer is both yes and no? The primary feeling I derive from it is relaxation, I sorta get into a calm, collected but aware state after ten minutes. It's not some hippie-dippie "transcendent" bullshit or anything like that, just an ultimately soothing feeling for me, that's why I do it.

You are overexerting yourself.

I tried to go all out until I couldn't move a few days back. I was hurting all over so I learned how to limit myself.

Anyhow, with this thread, I have usually led an active life but since I got out of college I gained a lot of weight I have been trying to cut for years. I have started to get more serious about bodybuilding a few months back, and while I had a few gains before starting, I am seeing a pronounced difference now that I am more into it and making an effort at keeping a good diet to build up muscle or sustain my current level of muscle at least while cutting.

I am not locked into losing weight tho, I learned long ago that losing weight was the wrong approach for me. Rather, I just want to bulk up while cutting fat, weight be damned.

Meditation with soft instrumental lo-fi is great for me. Just let the train of thoughts stop and go with the flow with whatever my mind brings.

I have a tendency to injure myself stretching. Never seem to be able to distinguish pain that is doing me good from pain that I am injuring myself.

You are not suppose to feel pain per se, you feel strain, muscle fatigue, you feel long term soreness. if it feels like you are rupturing a tendon you probably are.

If you feel a sharp pain or an unusual pain that's not your muscles you are probably doing it wrong.

>Has been trying on and off for the last year or so to get back into working out with poor results.

Any idea how to get swole when I have no weights or equipment at home, and no money for food/gym/new weights? I know running with loaded rucksacks, dragging and tossing tractor tires, "lumberjack" exercises, etc., and help, but alas, I no longer have the tire, and most of my trees are gone thanks to a hurricane. The heat in summer also makes me sick, so I tend to stay indoors a lot.

Also have, like, no money to maintain a proper diet, and most food that I do have around isn't very good for a workout diet at all, so even if I do start working out more, I don't have anywhere near enough food (or money for food) to maintain a steady workout regimen. I've considered getting some protein powder to supplement my diet, but that shit's expensive, and I could just buy more rice, bread, peanut butter, or red meats with that cash.

Getting swole is not just about hitting certain healthy categories of food everyday tbh. You're also going to have to eat far more calories than you normally would, since to bulk you need to gain weight, and for that you need a calorie surplus, not a calorie deficit. How much and what kind would be best for you I don't know, but there are diet samples online you can look at.

I am using protein powder to supplement, but that's because I am cutting down fat, I am not trying to gain any further weight.

Also, if you have no new weights at home but you do have detachable weight equipment (like a barbell), you can do what my uncle did and make your own out of concrete or other materials around the house. I am going to the gym at least twice a week consistently, personally. But that's because I can afford it.

Cardio's the last thing you'd want to do if you want to get swole. As mentioned above you need a calorie surplus and cardio will only make it more difficult. Do daily pushups, pullups, situps whatever and go for that weight increase no matter if its fat or muscle.

Hitting the gym is the best but if that's not affordable then daily situps etc as mentioned is best.
