Because this is a US election thread, not a Democratic Party thread? I'm curious to hear what the other side has to offer.

Pfft. All so you can bait about how x candidate is flawed and how Trump will still win.

You want to fight, fight. Don't talk. You're not going to convince anyone you're going to make good faith arguments by stamping your feet and insisting you will. This is the second thread on the subject. You've had a million chances. Shit or get off the pot. Make genuine arguments or don't. But quit talking about yourself, you're not that interesting and you're not running for office.

In thread relevant news...some of the also rans are getting in on Warren's 'actually apply for the job' technique.
If elected president, Sen. Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota wants a federal funding match to increase teacher salaries, while Washington state Gov. Jay Inslee plans on enlisting the US Education Department to help fight climate change.
The two Democratic presidential hopefuls unveiled their education proposals Friday ahead of their appearances at the National Education Association presidential forum in Houston.
Both plans seek to roll back some of the Trump administration's education policies.
Klobuchar's proposal would end the Trump administration's push for a school choice tax credit, which critics say would siphon funds from public schools. Inslee says he will end the diversion of federal funds to private charter schools.

They both promise to fully fund the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act and to provide protections for the LGBTQ community.

Missed the last one, sorry. I don't need to make arguments because my guy is in office and you need to convince me why I shouldn't back him. The Democrats don't exactly have a very deep bench despite the 20-odd candidates in the field considering their top choices for President are currently a creepy leftover from the Obama years, a fake Native American and a woman who used the casting couch to its fullest potential.

Maybe if Tulsi or Yang were polling in the front I might have room to re-calibrate my opinion but for now you've just got garbage.

The best way to convince us that you're here to actually engage is to skip out the actual election relevant part of the post to talk about yourself again instead. Want to try again?

The money primary continues.
California Sen. Kamala Harris raised less than $12 million in the second fundraising quarter of 2019, her campaign announced on Friday.
That figure is short of the $12 million the senator raised in the first three months of the year. But the second quarter number was bolstered by Harris' breakout debate performance in late June and the fact that the campaign raised $2 million in the wake of Harris' high-profile confrontation with Joe Biden. The campaign did not specify an exact amount for the quarter.
The Democratic presidential candidate's haul falls short of the $24.8 million raised by South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg, the $21.5 million that former Vice President Joe Biden raised and the $18 million haul from Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders.
The campaign said it raised money from more than 279,000 people in the second quarter, with 150,000 new donors contributing during that period. The average contribution was $39, the campaign said.

Harris, unlike Sanders and Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, did spend considerable time raising money at top-dollar, high-profile events, especially in the second half of June as the campaign sprinted to post a strong fundraising number.

Interesting to see if Biden and Harris using traditional big money donations ends up doing what it normally does or hobbles them in the end.

The fact that we gauge a candidate based on how much money they can bring in bothers me deeply.

There's something exceptionally broken about that whole concept. I recognize it's current reality, and I'm not criticizing you exactly, but the whole notion that politics is about how much money you can raise more than the ideas you propose bothers me exceptionally deeply.

Well, it's not my metric and not one I choose based on. But also, it is a way of measuring support and quantifying where that support comes from. Because not all million dollars are equal. If a candidate raises a million dollars from four people than that person's broader appeal might not be as solid as the person who raised it from a bunch of people willing to write a check to see them become president.

It's not like we're judging them based on their income or socio-economic status. It's a poll of support people buy into, and who is doing the buying is also telling us who the candidate is speaking to.
