Today's new poll from Maine shows Biden leading his rivals from two neighboring states, 25% Biden 17% Warren 15% Sanders.

Also shows Biden beating Trump by the widest margin of all Dem candidates 54 - 46%.

TBF, this poll was done before the debates (and it's a State Poll). I'll be looking at polls they start today and release Monday and onward.

Morning consult poll (the kindest to Biden) shows him dropping six points - after the first debate.

Meanwhile, I think Buttigieg did better than Harris. Her attack on Biden came off as cynical to me. Either way, the success of those two will probably mean they steal supporters from Warren.

Oh you're hoping so very much but prepare for a bigly disappoint. Trump knows Biden is his electoral college beast. So do most Dem voters. Biden's polling strength is related directly. Number one issue is defeat Trump. Smart voters.

That last bit is a bit of a non sequitur to me. Why would Buttigieg and Harris be likely to draw support from Warren, more so than from other candidates?

It's state by state polling that really matters as the nomination will be decided thusly. Buttigieg definitely did himself some real good under great pressure. Agree with assessment of Harris.

This 538/Morning Consult poll finds a big leap for Harris (from 7.9 to 16.6 percent) and an even larger decrease for Biden (from 41.5 to 31.5 percent) after last night's debate.

Also interesting: Buttigieg, who I thought did well, actually lost popularity over the debates (from 6.7 to 4.8 ).

Really though there's no way to "win" a primary debate in a meaningful way in this situation. The positive gains almost certainly won't last. You can't win, you can only lose, and the losers over the last two nights were Tim Ryan, Beto O'Rourke, and Joe Biden.

Most likely a lot of it is still controversy over the shooting in South Bend and his less-than-stellar track record (to put it nicely) on race relations coming to bite him in the ass.

I’m still somewhat bummed that Yang didn’t get a much of a word in. IIRC, they only asked him like, three questions, one of which was the closing statement. Then again, there were persistent technical difficulties, Somali may have missed something.

I'm fine with that. If they lose, they lose. And nothing of value is lost.

Less stupid as that, but pretending Biden actually has any significant amount of Rep support against Donald Trump - one of the most popular politicians among registered Reps - is pure fantasy based in the "lol Biden 2 moderate" meme.

While he is a moderate, he's still a Democrat and the Reps are too far right to take him in.

Press F to pay respects to Yang. :p

Although, in Yang’s defense, he’s faring better than Swalwell.

No. Former republican Governor of CT William Weld is doing that. Biden (and other Dems) should NOT cede the center to Trump. It's the easiest way to reelect Trump. Jeez Louise.

No, he's not. Swalwell isn't a political laughing stock today. Yang had nothing last night. He was shocked and awed right out of the building.
