We typically don’t jail drunk drivers for long. We keep them in the drunk tank overnight, arraign them in the morning, they’re released on their own recognizance, then we send them home in the morning with a court date.

If it’s the second or third time we keep their license.

Well Galloland is far more lenient on drunk drivers than California.

If you treated drunk drivers in Florida like you did in California, you probably would just have to turn the state into a prison.

Watching Bidens speech atm and I firmly believe he is not the best candidate now. He keeps talking about how things used to be and how it all used to work and I feel like that message is just not gonna work nowadays.

Sure. But he'll use green hats. Red is a commie color. Everybody knows that, silly.

Biden spoke well and the crowd loved it, chanting we want Joe, we want Joe!.

I particularly liked this line.... "Donald Trump inherited a good economy from the Obama-Biden administration... and he's bound to squander that just like everything else he's inherited."

Biden's benefiting from the fact that nearly all of the candidates who are already well positioned to be THE credible alternative have pretty glaring weaknesses too. Unless something happens that seriously blows up the campaigns of Sanders, Warren or Buttigieg, it's Biden's nomination to lose. Of course, that's assuming that nobody else who's more unknown catches fire at this point, and that's the call I'm making. Even if one (or more) of those four do flame out, only Harris and O'Rourke are really positioned to absorb their support as second-tier candidates.

Fortunately Donald Trump has the most glaring weaknesses of everybody. He won't win over any majority of the independents, women or millennials. His only stronghold was white men and now Biden is winning that demographic narrowly in some of the polling. That is why Biden's lead is 11 points over Trump in the two latest 2 polls. Noteworthy that one is a FOX News poll.

I wonder how much time it's going to take before his base panics over these numbers.

He's actually the perfect candidate if you happen to believe that white liberal boomers are the go-to demographic to appeal to.

Trump's strongest demographic group is 50-64 year olds. Some of these are the peeps that had came of age (21) or were teenagers during the 12 years of Reagan & Bush 41. A part of that group is Gen X but most are the last half of the Baby Boomer Bunch.

The candidate the Dems nominate needs to be the strongest one across the board of demographics to beat the incumbent Trump. Especially with the 50-64 group. Right now that person is clearly Joe Biden.

The biggest problem about the "How things used to be" was he stood at Obama's side for 8 years and did nothing to help "Make things how they used to be", (because the prevailing political theory is that it was impossible to make things how they used to be.)

It's why I partly can't take him as a serious candidate.

How things were before 2009 when he took office was an economic calamity of deregulation. That's the legacy of GOP presidents Reagan, Bush 41, Bush 43 ...and of course Bill Clinton (D). Obama/Biden were left with a gigantic mess.

Trump is busy busy busy creating the next economic bust with his idiotic trade war.

Not only is he better on policy, but Bernie is more likely to beat Trump as well. With Biden we'll just end up with a repeat of 2016 and Trump will get a second term to fuck the country over even more.

Biden doesn't stand for anything. He's going to run on 'everything was good before Trump and we'll go back to those days', but it wasn't good for all the people financially crushed by student loan debt, and it wasn't good for the people who relied on a GoFundMe to be able to afford medicine they would literally die without, and it wasn't good for the people in Flint who watched Obama do nothing about their water crisis and lie to them, and it wasn't good for the Native Americans who didn't want their water poisoned by an illegal pipeline through their land, and it wasn't good for the homeless, and it wasn't good for the long term unemployed, and it wasn't good for the people who had to work 70 or 80 hours a week just to keep their lights on until they finally snapped from all the stress but couldn't afford treatment because we still don't have single payer.

Well off middle class liberals, the ones who have never experienced real poverty, they love Biden. Everyone who can focus on Russiagate because they have health care and a living wage, they will vote for Biden, but how is Biden going to win over the disenfranchised and disempowered when he offers them nothing?

The point is to have good policies. If you put winning before good policies you do not deserve the former and will lose both.
