The alpha-beta paradigm doesn't really exist but there are dominant/confident and submissive/passive types. The former tend to be those that society regards as attractive and therefore have better social standing and the confidence that comes with being treated better by society. The latter tend to be forced into their type purely because society disregards their confidence as "being creepy" or other negative interpretations of behaviour. While confidence is something that is present in everyone, only one group of people are encouraged to display it.

As a lover of hats, the fucked off gentlemen's obsession with fedoras and such really fucking annoys me. I've been wearing a Pork Pie etc since high school for perfectly acceptable dorky reasons (I was a jazz musician and wanted to be a cool jazz musician) that I can gladly accept ridicule for (I mean...it's pretty stupid), but having to go, "Oh no, sorry random woman. I'm not about to accost you for my self enforced lack of appeal, I just like dumb hats for another dumb reason" sucks.


More than one girlfriend or expression of interest far, far above my weight so to speak by not trying to hump their leg because of their features. Strangely enough, and this is not a panacea because women (I don't have to tell you this) are a mass of individuals with individual desires wants and reactions etc, if you don't constantly go, "So when you gonna let me at those giant breast" you eventually get access to those giant breasts. And all you have to do is engage with them as a person without agenda and appreciate them as an individual. Bonus points, even if it doesn't grant you access to their fruity pebbles, you got to know someone as a person and made a friend which should never be undervalued in this world.

I understand your sentiment here, but I think it misunderstands fundamentally that toxic masculinity addresses a systemic problem as opposed to an individual one. It's easy to see it as man-blaming, but truth be told, men are victims of it too. And while it'd be easy to say that "women's rights will make it all better", it's obviously more complex than that. Instead, working with men to reach a healthier masculinity and feminity will be beneficial to everyone. At least, that's the way I see it.
