Wait, hold on, you wanked yourself white?

For the record pale skinned individuals can get vitiligo. It just doesn’t show up as well

It all cums comes full circle.

You know what, I immediately regret the use of that phrase and recommend we ban the use of the terms "come" (and its spelling variant) and "circle" in this thread.

There is an out of control trolley speeding towards Jeremy Bentham, who is tied to the track. You can pull the lever to cause the trolley to switch tracks, but on the other track is Immanuel Kant. Bentham is clutching the only copy in the universe of The Critique of Pure Reason. Kant is clutching the only copy in the universe of The Principles of Moral Legislation. Both men are shouting at you that they have recently started to reconsider their ethical stances.

Without Porn, I would have never known what "tribbing" is.

Postby New Daneslaw » Thu May 09, 2019 6:40 pm

Lets just say, it is a REALLY COOL spectator sport for guys (i'm a guy) and probably for a whole lot of women too. Additionally, the topic is more about freedom of expression than of some weird sense of morality. And to say it turns people into pedophiles? Wow, sounds like that came from a sexually repressed or victimized individual. The first one can be cured, the second, well that's why we have law enforcement and vigilantes. Heather Vandeven really relaxes me. She is my individual therapeutic mainstay.

Porn is a really good time waster too, as well as relaxing. If I have trouble going to bed I’ll always jack off beforehand. Marc Dylan is perfect for that

Pornography consumption has been proclaimed a public health crisis in Arizona.

A bill passed in the Arizona Senate on Monday highlights the potential dangers of pornography usage, but stops short of taking further measures to prevent its availability.

“Pornography perpetuates a sexually toxic environment that damages all areas of our society,” the bill states. “Potential detrimental effects on pornography users include toxic sexual behaviors, emotional, mental and medical illnesses and difficulty forming or maintaining intimate relationships.”

What do you guys think of this? A Good thing? A Bad thing? Discuss. Keep it PG-13 please.

I for one think they aren't going far enough, but then again, that's what I say for just about every move anyone makes. Like a lot of things in post industrial society pornography has proven to be addictive and bad for mental health a lot of times. It's not like sex and sexual activities will cease to exist without porn as if such things didn't exist for the last 2.5M years of human existence, so the question of sexual repression being a danger is irrelevant.

Here are some common arguments for porn, and why I don't think they are valid.

"It is impossible for it to be fully banned, people will find it if there is a market for it"
I'm not a capitalist, I don't really support market economies in the first place and the "people will do anything if there's a market for it" is one of my reasons why. We shouldn't live in a society like that in the first place.

"It is infringing upon people's freedoms to ban it"
You're just drawing an arbitrary line in the sand here. You can't just say that porn isn't bad enough to be banned like certain drugs and other illegal acts. Our freedoms are already infringed upon for our greater good.

"If it's not hurting anyone else just let people do it"
Similar to the drugs thing, it is hurting the person using it, and back to point A, in a market economy men in suits find ways to make money morals aside.

Take a crack at some 30000 year old porn:

Like most things Puritans want to ban, a much better response would be to legalize and regulate it. Pretty much the situation we find ourselves in today iow. Does anyone else find it ironic that conservatives suddenly become converts to the cause of "women's rights" when it comes to legal porn?

Let's send some cold wet towels over to the Arizona senate, it's too hot and it makes you insane it's a state for lizards not people.

It's not ironic at all, those with conservative values have always trumpeted women's health and well-being in a horrible and patronizing way. It's why women needed a minimum wage, it's why they shouldn't have been allowed to vote, it's why segregation was so important. What's ironic is how depressingly often people try to support women's rights by saying they're far too delicate to handle society.

Some porn is bad. If it's with children or animals or involving things like real life torture it's bad. But a lot of porn is just sexy and I don't see anything wrong with that.

...I'm sure Governor Ducey signed off on this, but as an Arizonan who knows perhaps too much about the Governor's family, perhaps I oughta keep my mouth shut.

On a personal level, I'm apprehensive towards porn, but most people gotta do what they gotta do, and I fully respect that. But for my state Senate to pass this, presumably with the approval of the Governor, well, this reeks of some hypocrisy and also more do-nothingness of our state. Raise teacher pay despite promising to do so? Nah. Fix our crumbling healthcare system? Nah. Curtail the amount of developers that are able to essentially bribe their way into building in protected desert ecosystems? Nah.

That's Arizona politics for you - make much ado about nothing to distract from how far our state is falling.

There is such a thing as porn addiction and for some people it becomes a real problem as any addiction whether physical or psychological can be. However, I think the actual number of people who are addicted to porn is vastly overestimated, because you get situations in which one's partner is utterly intolerant of porn, so even if one spends time entertaining themselves with porn no more than a half hour once a month, when they get 'caught' by their partner, either their partner decides this must be an addiction or a problem as a way of rationalization, or the person who was caught claims it's some sort of problem so their partner doesn't leave them. It's the same deal with parents of teenagers, they decide that their kid is 'addicted' to porn even if the kid almost never looks at porn.

Some people are negatively affected by porn but it's far from the most pressing issues we have to deal with.

Eh. As creepily psychotic as pornstars are. It's a free country and they should be able to do what they want.

The only time I ever hear about them is when they're having affairs with politicians or offering sexual favors to people who vote a certain way or assault someone.

Which is pretty uncommon; most pornstars just make porn.

Heck yeah it's a public health crisis.

That said, I wouldn't ban it outright, just restrict it. How do we restrict porn on the internet? I actually suggest an answer somewhat in my nation's factbooks:

I said we'd tax advertising on and for porn sites. Porn is bad, but guess what? People are bad, so let's make some money off it.

And why not? It's a drug, and it has the same effects as physical drugs. It makes you more irritable, less confident, and more importantly it wastes time.

Plus, by satisfying your sexual desires, it removes any impetus for you to get out and actually look for a real partner, which means people don't get married and start families(or do so at lesser rates) thus causing societal collapse.
