From point of view of commoner living in CEE:
I wanted to talk not about philosophy meaning but about everyday understanding.
I believe nowadays word Liberalism has no meaning for average men. I don’t remember hearing the word as such, but you can hear a lot of “liberal values” and sometimes “liberal parties”.
“liberal values” are used mainly by media (mainly European based English speaking). When refereeing to CEE it means just two things, either something about gay (lgtb) rights or migrants. Nothing and NEVER anything else. When referring to whatever “undemocratic” 3rd (other) world country the media wants to bash, it is always about non specified “liberal values” that are ignored by local country. English speaking members of parliament love to use these words exactly in those meanings.
When media refers to “Liberal parties” then in different countries these are completely different types parties that has no more in common with each other than with any other random party.
Since I read foxnews and cnn twice a week (for broader viewpoint) I know that in USA you have completely different usage of word. A very domestic partisan meaning. However when referring towards outside world the “ignorance of liberal values” means just a random crime by foreign governments.

The idea that life is inherently valuable is false, but rather, it is the quality of the life that matters. Those who have lived not worth living (as judged by themselves, and also by us) tend to be poor. The idea that one is automatically better off impoverished and alive-now that is peak ignorance.

They way I see it, and granted my life has not been the most suffiering filled life so far, is that any life is higher quality than the absence of death. That doesn't excuse homelessness and poverty, it just is.
